We're All Different

We should not make life a comparison game. But we do. I am guilty of it myself. Social status is race related now. People do not make it about income, like they should. They feel that if you are a certain race, you have access to better opportunities. It is a stereotype that has stuck in our minds for so long, it is like a tape recording that is we play repeatedly. I call it the race card. Some people call it that too and say that they got the race card pulled on them.

There are some racial injustices in the world that have always been there and will never change. Some people are going to always have the slavery mentality, even though it was officially abolished in 1865. Its not about white or black, or any other race. The world is like it is because we make it that way. We have come up with so many crazy stereotypes, its not even funny.

As a black woman, black lives matter is something that I hear so much and its driving me crazy. People rioted and protested and went to jail. What was the purpose? None at all. What did it solve? Nothing. All lives matter. The color of your skin does not determine a thing in this world. You can run down the road and yell black lives matter all you want to, but do you value your own life as a person enough to risk your life in a riot or protest? That’ the question you need to ask yourself.

I am not racist against my own race or any other race. People may see things that way because I disagree with black lives matter but oh well. Let people think what they want. I think that is another problem in this world.

Be content with who you are. Do not change yourself for anyone and if you do decide to change yourself, do it for you, not because someone thinks you should or because someone makes you feel like you need to. Women, we harp on losing weight. Do it for yourself. You are not trying to impress anyone. This is no beauty pageant or talent show. I believe that people should live and let live. I live my life and you live yours. After all, this is life that we are talking about here.

Like I said, people make life a comparison game, so we need to stop being jealous of one another. It is not giving you anything but a headache and making you lose sleep because you are so busy trying to be like the previous person. Let go and be you. A few days ago, I wrote a comparison poem. Here it is:

Why Do We Compare?

Why compare lives? I'm not you, you're not me

We are individuals, different qualities, attitudes, we think differently

We are all equal, God made us that way

Actions that people show are actually words they want to say

Facial expressions are a big indicator of words we want to speak

It's like looking at a transparent computer screen, wrong words may be spoken, but we can't hit delete

My man, woman, car, house and job is better than yours

We compare these very things, we shouldn't, because in life, choices made are like doors

They open, they close, but you and me eventually achieve our goals

No comparison should be made on anyone's behalf

No competition, same goal, it's not important who gets there first or who gets there last
