The start of a journey

The beginning.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step.

The start of every journey begins by starting, your destination can't be reached without you starting out first. The destination, reward, and many other things will keep waiting until you finally start that journey and you arrive at where they are.

It is however understandable that the start of any journey in and of life can be very overwhelming, things don't seem to look as they portray to be, it most times looks very difficult to arrive at the desired destination, goals, dreams, and aspirations. The start of a journey requires quite some number of adequate preparation and planning, no one ventures into building a house without first calculating the costs, time, manpower, resources, and many more. The process matters at the start of every journey, this is where vision comes in handy, they must be a clear picture of how and what you want the moment you set out to start whatever journey you desire to start.

There are a lot of different journeys we all set out to do every day, but the question we should ask ourselves is, how many people see it through? Starting from our educational pursuits, career, marriage, finance, and many more. It simply takes self-determination to start out on a journey. It is also expected for us to know that there are different factors that can come into play while we are on a journey, we need to put into consideration all unforeseen circumstances. A lot of people start out a journey, self-determined and zealous but then as the journey unfolds they tend to be broken by the situation and challenges encountered, so now we would know that it is not just about starting out on a journey but the ability to develop a thick skin which will help weather all storms on the way of getting to your desired destination.

One might think that how you start a journey will determine how it will end, but really i will disagree with that school of thought. Starting out a journey is not a factor of how it will end but the person on the journey.

A brilliant, energetic start does not guarantee a successful end. It all boils down to the person in the play, the traveler on the journey because he is in the right position to predict, defend, and attack all that might be a stumbling block for the successful journey. I really do understand that there are certain journeys that aren't in control of the traveler but then i must say this, the way it is handled matters a lot.

It is improper to predict and tell yourself every risk worth taken journey will be smooth, you are not being truthful to yourself by saying that.

I like to use myself as an example on this very note, I have always had the dream of studying outside my country Nigeria. Each time i sit and i look at how the journey will be i feel overwhelmed by it and i try to control my thoughts. I calculated all it was going to take me to see my great dream achieved then i set out to see it become a reality, the journey wasn't an easy one as i encountered a lot of challenges along the way, there was a time i thought of giving up and ending all because of the financial commitments, but then one thing kept me moving and that was the big picture i had before the start of the journey, whenever i feel tired the picture comes into play and i regain my energy to press forward. This very year my dream became a reality, I am now studying in the school of my choice and country.

The start of a journey matters if the end is in view.
