“Do not let the roles you play in life make you forget that you are human.” ~Roy T. Bennett
I once heard someone say that being in the form of a human being comes with a responsibility. Think about that for a second. Look at a cricket, a cat, or a dog. Look at any form of animal, insect or creature. A spider, a butterfly, a dragonfly, a bird, a lizard. Any one of these creatures could be our experience. We didn't have to come here as a human being.
You could have easily been a cricket. Or a cockroach. I could have come here as a caterpillar. Got any pets? Imagine coming to Earth as them. What if the roles were reversed? What if your bodies were switched? Being walked by an owner could have been your experience.
If you're reading this right now that means that you are able to. You not only have the capability to read, but you also have the ability to understand. You have the mind, the wherewithal and the capacity for learning and knowledge and wisdom. These things that make us as human beings more sophisticated. It is a different type of sophistication for us human beings in this bio machine that we live in. This vessel we inhabit that we call the human body.
The Privilege of Humanity
Is being a human being enough for you today? Does being a human being come at cost? Like the Stan Lee said, "With great power comes great responsibility." But what is our responsibility? What is our purpose here on this planet? These many things we are able to do are marvelous. They are privilege and a pleasure. But I realize that I could have been an ant in a colony or a bee in a hive.
As we experience our world, there are worlds within worlds. They say that in the east, they contemplate the forest. In the west, they count the trees. Understand that when you look at a bush, you're not just looking at a bush, you are looking at a world within the world.
There are so many micro-organisms within micro-organisms. Whole universes that could fit inside of your fingernail. So understand that being here in human being form is a huge responsibility. Do you not have a responsibility? Of course, you never asked to be here and no one did. But we are here now.
Embracing Your Gifts
"I don't always feel fierce and fearless, but I do feel like I'm a rock star at being human." ~Tracee Ellis Ross
What will you do with the life that you've been given? This beautiful being that you are able to be. What will you do? What will you change? Who will you impact? It seems the way to show appreciation for being thought of is by polishing our potential. By building upon what we have been given. Someone said that God's gift to us is our potential and our gift to God is cultivating it. Activating and making it a reality. Going from potential to kinetic. From consumer to creator. We are ALL creators.
What is your unique gift? Are you embracing your gift today? At this present moment, do you appreciate life? Something to think about as a human being. We all have the right to choose. For we all make choices. But in the end, our choices make us. Let's start living to our fullest potential. Take responsibility for your human form and shine!
