Comparision creates serious imbalances in our lives

Comparison helps us in many ways. For example, it helps to decide upon something. But it has many devastating aspects as well if we fail to utilize it properly where it is necessary. Comparing is innate among us but it does not work everywhere. Sometimes, it pushes us to take the wrong decision. There are multiple types of comparisons such as comparisons between non-living objects and comparisons between humans. Human beings are the most complex creature and it is very difficult to judge one based on only a few factors, which may not reflect one's true nature. However, how comparison affects us will be described here.

Why Objective Comparision is Really Difficult?

Comparison is really tough for a number of reasons. Comparision works when we can perfectly decide upon the quality, type or class of an object. For example, it is our common tendency to compare a lot when we visit a Bazar to purchase something. In our open eyes, we generally try to judge the external appearance at the first sight. But the internal composition may involve the quality of material, the quantity of the valuable material and the intricacy of the design, which are difficult to evaluate without having in-depth knowledge. Consequently, we compare wrongly and take a false decision which may mean an economic loss to us. More importantly, the seller or producers become aware of this type of buyer very quickly and they try to bring the kind of products in front of them which are physically glittering. Thus, a group of buyers becomes a victim of cheap comparison and another group of sellers has been able to make more profits than expected. If we fail to compare exactly, we may consider a fake product as a real one. That is why comparison only becomes successful when we know the ins and outs of a product and the marketers also help to provide all necessary information regarding the products.

What is Social Comparision Model?

Comparison becomes more difficult when we compare human beings because it is really a challenging task to judge an individual from a qualitative perspective. It is not as easy as deciding upon a product in a shopping mall. To make the matter more complex, we have a general tendency to judge everything through our own lens. Every single human being is unique with one's innate ability, magnificence and capability. If we are not thoroughly aware of these abilities, we quickly jump to compare a person with others.

Social Comparision Model is very powerful. Just try to remember how we are compared from our early childhood in families, educational institutions, social hierarchies, workplaces, and communities. Too much comparison attacks true love and a good relationship. For example, when a father compares two sons and forces one to be like others, it first hampers the relationship between the brothers and then affects that with their father. One brother also tries to copy and paste, forgetting his own capabilities. We must remember one thing that no human being can be like others. We can love to follow and get motivated by others but can not be a replica of another person.

How to Avoid Comparision Consciously

If we want to avoid comparisons consciously in our interactions, we can first be aware of the words which we generally use while communicating. It is really useful to set a formal approach to reduce the number of such types of words in our daily conversations. We can make a detailed list of those and consciously eliminate them. At the same time, it is also essential to look into a person's unique abilities more deeply so that our judgment does not fail.

We tend to judge the value of anything we need in terms of economic value, forgetting the social aspects. It is now reportedly evident that only economic value creation has made a richer world, leaving most of its inhabitants below the poverty line.

Capitalism has made a richer world, where economic-value-creation has left mankind scattered more than ever.

Onward March of Capitalism for Centuries

After the 1790s, the total wealth of the world has gone up at an astounding rate because of the uprising of capitalism which was thought to be the Aladdin's Lamp for the global economy. For many years, the governments of various countries did not want to let the market free to the hand of capitalism. But when they saw that a geometrically increasing rate of individual wealth surprisingly gave rise to collective wealth for the economy, they were compelled to withdraw any type of authority over market forces. The whole world has seen and enjoyed the fruit for almost 180 years. Today global GDP is worth more than $88 trillion.
