Ahhh, The Roaring Twenties....a crazy time...full of radical culture shifts and technological growth.

It has been a full century and history seems to be repeating itself.

Right now, we are experiencing a similar pattern of expansion and change in our culture, fostering a newfound sense of fun and freedom.

Only this time the "The Roaring Twenties" is being called "The Great Resignation" or most notably, "The Big Quit."

Every day, more of us are realizing the true value of life, and we straight-up refuse to spend our precious time at a job we hate.

This generation is demanding a change.

Right now, millions of people are quitting their jobs and choosing to do something that better suits their interests and lifestyle.

"Gone are the days of living to work and working to live."

Nowadays, the question a lot of us are asking ourselves is…

….what do I want to do?

….what is my purpose in life?

As a result, we now have more employment options than ever before.

FINALLY, we can choose jobs that match our personalities and are able to demand flexible schedules.

But why stop there?

Imagine working at a job that pays well, matches your lifestyle, AND makes you jump out of bed with a big smile every morning.

Something that makes you feel like you’re following your “destiny”...

Seem too good to be true? Trust me, it's not.

But don't just take my word for it. According to many of the world’s self-made millionaires and billionaires, like Martha Beck, T. Harv Ecker, Esther Hicks, Steve Jobs, and Oprah Winfrey (just to name a few):

doing what want to do is the best way to keep your bank on point.

So why doesn’t everyone just do what they want?

Right. If only it was that easy!

With all of the distractions of daily life and the craziness of human emotions, finding our purpose can feel challenging at times.

And turning that purpose into a job that makes you happy....well that just seems plain difficult.

Fortunately, you were not meant to figure out life on your own.

That is why, over many years, I have studied others who have walked the road before me and would like to share what I’ve found.

Here are five tips for finding your purpose:

1. Put Your Health & Feelings First. Period.

In other words, love yourself. It seems so simple because it is. That's why it's so often overlooked.

A small prereq, but also the most important.

Feeling your best, and taking care of yourself are essential to success in any area.

This looks different for everyone, but whatever your best looks like, whatever self-care feels like, it is important to maintain.

Your thoughts are seeds, and they play the LARGEST part in how you feel, no matter where you are or what you are going through.

Pretty much all of the successful people I’ve studied will agree on this: your way of thinking and talking to yourself can make or break you.

Prioritize your health and good-feeling thoughts, for one short month.

After 30 days, it will turn into a habit and change your life completely.

2. Take the Path of Least Resistance

There are a lot of different paths to follow when finding your purpose.

The real question is, which one will have you working smarter, and not harder?

Do you follow your innate passions or develop a new one?

Remember, you have unlimited options and potential, here.

With simple curiosity and persistence, the sincere effort of a determined mind can turn anything into a passion, according to billionaire Mark Cuban.

Although Steve Jobs encourages people to follow what they already love, he too developed a passion.

Before Apple, Jobs was passionate about art and mysticism…but after putting in the long hours to develop his technology, his side hustle grew on him, and it became not only a passion but a part of his purpose.

3. Take it One Day at a Time

Be patient.

Through the process of finding your purpose, you may discover a lot of negative beliefs that need to be cleared out of your system.

This usually doesn’t happen overnight.

Each day, do your best to redirect all of your negative thoughts, choosing only the ones that make you feel at peace.

This is a simple way to discipline your mind.

Naturally, you will begin making choices that align with your focus.

4. Know Yourself

What makes you mad?

What are you best at? How does your mind work?

What drains you and how do you recharge?

If you don’t know your weaknesses and how to support them with your strengths, then you are at risk of being vulnerable to the constant stressors, endless social obligations, and emotional chaos that is human life.

The journey of finding your purpose is FILLED with unpredictable challenges like criticism from loved ones, potential health problems within your circle, and fear of financial setbacks.

But against these hurdles, you are your greatest tool in overcoming them.

5. Create, Critique, Crusade.

Founder of KIND bars, Daniel Lubetzky, said it best one of my favorite shows, Shark Tank:

“Create. Critique. Crusade.”

Create freely, with an imaginative mind and an open heart.

Get real with yourself about what truly interests you.

And remember to have fun with it!!!

As The Great Einstein once said, “Creativity is intelligence, having fun.” & “Imagination is everything.”

Test them one at a time!

Where does it fit in the marketplace? What resources will you need? And most of all...

...does it align with your highest values?

Keep trying new things until you find something solid.

Once you find something that checks all of the boxes, the last step is to find the courage to crusade!

You can also put your ideas to another test, made by Oprah’s life coach and multi-millionaire author, Martha Beck:

“Notice. Narrow. Name.”
