The Budding Writer: Ahsan’s Journey from Mockery to Motivation
The Budding Writer By Muhammad Hasan Danish Mansoori Jassi, Karachi “Lost in thought again, Ahsan?” Mr. Shaukat’s voice pulled the boy back from the world of imagination. “Nothing, sir,” Ahsan tried to brush it aside. But his teacher’s kind insistence led him to confess, “Actually… I was thinking about writing something. I regularly read a magazine, and I even write reviews about it. Now I feel like maybe I should write a piece myself. Perhaps… I could become a small writer one day.” The moment those words left his lips, the entire classroom erupted in laughter. The sound of mockery echoed against the walls. Mr. Shaukat quickly silenced the students, his stern yet gentle voice cutting through the noise. “What’s so wrong about that?” he asked the class. “Alongside studies, one should also take part in other healthy activities. Writing, reading, creativity — these are noble pursuits.” He turned back to Ahsan with a warm smile. “Son, if your article gets published, I’ll give you a special prize myself.” Those few words of encouragement lit a fire in Ahsan’s heart. His confidence grew, and he made a silent promise to himself: Every year, I will write something new. Soon the school bell rang. Students slung their bags over their shoulders and poured out of the classroom. Among them was a group of mischievous boys, led by Rafi, the class troublemaker. As soon as Mr. Shaukat left, Rafi smirked and addressed his gang. “Boys, remember — God gave us two ears so that whatever we hear from one, we can throw out from the other.” His followers burst into laughter at the taunt, mocking Ahsan’s aspirations. Ahsan picked up his bag quietly and headed for home. But before he could leave the school gates, Rafi, along with Nauman and Faheem, blocked his way. “Because of you, we were embarrassed in front of the whole class today,” Rafi sneered. “And now… you must pay for it.” Without warning, they began to hit him. The blows rained down as Ahsan struggled and cried. When they finally let him go, Rafi pointed a threatening finger at him. “Tell the teacher about this, and you’ll regret it.” Tears streaming down his cheeks, Ahsan stumbled home. Ahsan was an orphan. He had lost both his parents in childhood and was raised by his grandmother, who loved him dearly. When she saw him enter the house sobbing, her heart sank. She pulled him into her arms. “My dear child, what happened? Did someone hurt you?” But Ahsan said nothing. He slipped into his room, lay on the charpai, and buried his face in the pillow. Soon, exhausted by his tears, he drifted into sleep. When he woke, he sat quietly with his grandmother and recounted the entire incident. His grandmother listened carefully, then stroked his hair lovingly. “My son,” she said softly, “the world will always have more bad people than good. But remember — goodness always triumphs in the end. Never leave the path of honesty and kindness. Always respect your teachers and elders. If you hold on to these values, success will one day bow at your feet.” Ahsan absorbed every word, his resolve hardening. He would not let cruelty or mockery turn him away from his dreams. Days passed. Then came the first of the month. As he returned home from school, he stopped at the bookstore and bought the latest issue of his favorite magazine. After lunch, he opened it and began flipping through the pages. Suddenly, his eyes froze. His heart skipped a beat. There, printed in bold letters, was his very own article. For a moment, he could not believe it. He rubbed his eyes, read it again, and again. Yes — it was his work. His thoughts. His words. His creation. Ahsan’s joy knew no bounds. He ran to his grandmother and uncle, waving the magazine. “Look! My writing has been published!” His uncle smiled broadly and handed him a hundred-rupee note as a reward. His grandmother’s eyes glistened with pride. The next morning, Ahsan carried the magazine to school. Entering the classroom, he walked straight up to Mr. Shaukat’s desk, placed the magazine before him, and said in a confident tone, “Sir, this is the result of your student’s effort.” Mr. Shaukat’s eyes lit up with delight as he read the article. He patted Ahsan’s shoulder. “Well done, my son! This is the spirit. Keep writing, keep improving. One day, you will become a great writer. And I will personally recommend you for a special award from the Headmaster.” Those words were sweeter than any prize. Ahsan’s heart swelled with determination. In the corner of the room, however, Rafi sat silently. His face twisted with frustration, as though all his mockery had backfired. His gang, once so full of jeers, had nothing left to say. That day, Ahsan realized a powerful truth: encouragement from even one kind soul can change a person’s destiny, while ridicule cannot break the spirit of someone who believes in himself. And so began the journey of a boy who dared to dream — a boy who turned pain into passion, and mockery into motivation.

Believing in Yourself When No One Else Does
❓ A Question to Begin What happens when no one believes in you? Imagine working hard on something, but instead of hearing encouragement, you only hear laughter, doubt, or silence. People roll their eyes, say you’ll fail, or tell you to “be realistic.”

The hidden strength in taking life slowly
The Subtle Art of Slowing Down: Why Rushing Is Costing You Life Have you ever noticed how quickly we move through life these days? We wake up, check our phones before even brushing our teeth, rush through breakfast—if we even have one—and then sprint into a day filled with deadlines, meetings, and endless to-do lists. By the time the day ends, we’re so exhausted that scrolling on social media feels like the only way to "unwind." But here’s the uncomfortable truth: when life becomes a constant race, we stop living it.

Movement Is a Blessing: The Secret to Health and Longevity
Blessing in Movement – A Lesson from Hakim Muhammad Saeed BY: Ubaid I do not know who first coined the proverb “Movement is a blessing”, but I first heard it as a child from my mother. She repeated it until her last breath at the age of seventy-two, and it became a guiding light in my own life. I have lived by it, practiced it, and admired the truth hidden within those few words. For anyone determined to fulfill the purpose of their birth, to live a meaningful life, and to contribute positively to society, I can hardly imagine a better principle to follow. Stop for a moment and reflect: can you accomplish anything without movement? The human body is a miraculous biological machine. From the very first day of life until the last, it is constantly undergoing transformation and reconstruction. Our body is made of countless cells—tiny units of life. These cells die, dissolve, and are replaced by new ones. This natural cycle of death and renewal is what keeps us alive and healthy. But here is the key: this cycle can only continue properly when the body remains active. Movement is what allows old, worn-out cells to be removed and replaced by fresh ones, keeping the body renewed and full of vitality. If a person chooses to be idle and indulge in laziness, the body’s natural processes slow down. The spark of freshness disappears, health declines, and aging creeps in far earlier than it should. Think of a motor car. It is made up of various parts, much like the human body. Its food is petrol or diesel. If you give it fuel, the engine runs smoothly. Without fuel, the car stops. And if you leave the car standing still without movement, its parts begin to rust. Wires corrode, bolts loosen, and the once-energetic machine becomes nothing more than a heap of useless metal. Now imagine filling this broken, unused car with petrol. Will it work? Of course not. In the same way, when a human being becomes a bundle of laziness—sitting idly, eating continuously without activity—the end result is predictable. Can such a life be called living? Real life is one that is full of movement. A person must be active, vibrant, and purposeful—a driving force in every aspect of life. The best human being is the one who keeps moving and thereby receives all the blessings that life has to offer. Movement, truly, is the secret to blessing. That is why every morning should begin with activity. Exercise is not an optional luxury; it is a necessity for both health and longevity. Walking, running, swimming, horseback riding, playing sports—these are all forms of exercise, and all of them are essential for a healthy life. Unfortunately, modern life has trapped us in routines so busy that we often forget about our own health. This neglect is not only strange but extremely dangerous. By ignoring movement, we risk our bodies, our futures, and even the strength of our society. Because here lies a deeper truth: your health is not just your right, it is also your responsibility. Every citizen owes good health to their nation. A society made up of strong, active, and healthy individuals naturally becomes a strong and prosperous nation. Conversely, a weak and inactive population cannot build a strong country. In this sense, staying healthy is both a personal right and a national duty. That is why I believe the greatest motto we can adopt as individuals and as a nation is simple yet profound: “Movement is a blessing.” So let your every day begin with movement. If you cannot spare much time, then exercise at home. There is always a way to keep the body active. Personally, despite my busy schedule, I never compromise on health. I play tennis, I run, and I exercise whenever possible. This is not a hobby for me—it is a discipline, a responsibility, and a source of blessing. The benefits of movement are not limited to the body. They extend to the mind and spirit as well. A body in motion keeps the mind sharp and the heart light. It strengthens willpower, clears away fatigue, and opens doors to creativity and productivity. Idleness, on the other hand, does the exact opposite—it dulls the mind, weakens the heart, and slowly eats away at the joy of life. Therefore, the choice is ours. We can either let laziness consume us or rise each morning with purpose and movement, embracing the gift of health. Let us not wait until illness reminds us of the value of wellness. Instead, let us live in such a way that every heartbeat is filled with energy, every action with purpose, and every day with gratitude. Movement is life. Movement is health. Movement is blessing.
