Texas-based business mogul and now author, Lalanii Wilson Jones along with Los Angeles- based public relations strategist/author Treavion Davenport, have released their debut collaboration, Sugar Mama: A Keilanii Jennings Saga, an urban fiction novel that takes its audience on an exhilarating journey. From the creative minds of Lalanii and Treavion, comes the journey of Keilanii Jennings, a feisty, independent, proud Texan and mogul in the making who makes no apologies about the way she lives: from splurging on designer labels to booking 5-star getaways, and all that comes in between.

Keilanii is a confident, self-made success story whose life takes complex twists and turns while building her empire. Things start to get even more interesting when she meets Elliot Jennings, Jr., a handsome, charismatic companion who turns out to be her worst nightmare. Like most women, Keilanii wanted to have it all, including her “happily ever after.” This seemed imminent until the man who stole her heart tries to also steal her fortune and is exposed as the ultimate gold digger. While Keilanii Jennings is a mogul in the making and pursuing her bag, the concept of being a sugar mama is not unique to people of means. A “sugar mama” can be someone who has benefits; they are being manipulated and used by a man who stays rent-free, eats food off of her dime and drops her off at work in her car while he has a stress-free day. Although most will not admit it, many women have experienced a gold digger in their own lives. Out of embarrassment or shame, women do not want to talk about being used, scammed, and exploited under the guise of love. However, this is a topic that needs to be discussed openly so that people can find their way to true love and happiness. With this novel, Lalanii and Treavion bravely touch on today’s climate, where many women are so focused on achieving financial security, breaking the ceilings of success, maintaining their appearances, and perpetuating facades of happiness, that they find themselves settling for the scraps of an “Elliot, Jr.” just to have the illusion of the American dream. Being taken advantage of doesn’t just take place in romantic relationships; they can occur in any part of our lives, including work, family, and personal relationships. Often, the issues we face in seemingly different parts of our lives are actually connected to each other, and a crucial part of getting past issues is to acknowledge how they affect us. Lalanii and Treavion explore a wide range of themes relatable in 2020, including the complexities of divorce, betrayal and disappointment by friends and family members, raising children in today’s society, and the plight of the woman who struggles to simultaneously reach the top and have a fulfilling love life. We all have been placed in situations where someone that we have put our trust in, turns around and betrays us. No matter the context of those situations, they are heart-breaking and difficult to get through. What’s important is knowing how to address those situations and move forward. One of the most powerful takeaways from this book is that if you stay focused on your goals, you can move past the drama. With 5-star reviews of the book, Sugar Mama is a true hit that accurately portrays love, heartbreak, deceit and more. Raw and uncut from beginning to end, this story will have you laughing, crying, pondering, angry, sorrowful, excited, heartbroken, and very entertained.
