I once looked up at the stars one night and thought to myself “this is only half of a puzzle.” A collection of things deep in space that don't make sense – and I wondered; if things don't make too much sense to us, why do we strive to reach out to them? Why do we want to understand things which we can not comprehend. As I sat and studied the small piece of the universe I could see through my eyes, another thought came to me. The questions that we struggle with the most are often the ones we don't want to be answered. If we knew the answers to every question, if every problem had a solution, we wouldn't know the beauty of uncertainty.

The feeling that sits within us and causes us to take that step, take that chance, make the change and figure out what we need to know about our own universes. Deep within the eyes of each person is a soul as deep and as vivid as the one you see when you look up at the night sky. The memories, the challenges, the people and the places. I think that maybe I haven't looked into the eyes of too many people, haven't seen someone for who they are. If I had taken the time to look into the eyes of those I have encountered, would I be surprised at what I see? How long would it take me to unfold and pry out the pieces of the story that could benefit my own?

It helps to think of people as an ocean– the waves crash and bring new things ashore, but at the end of the day the tide still goes out the same it has done for thousands of years. The ocean is not still, the ocean always movies. You put your feet in the water, the water that has touched the shores of different islands and countries and boats. An ocean can touch so many lives. People can touch so many lives. The ocean can hurt. The ocean can pull you out to a place you have never heard of, but it can also push you in the direction you need to be.

We hesitate when looking at the ocean and all the power it has. But, as Stephen King wrote “He who hesitates is usually fucked!” You are never going to figure people out if you hesitate for too long. Jump in, take a chance. Learn the ways of yourself and those around you – it is the key to whatever it is you've been searching for, if in fact you are looking for something. The answers we search in life are usually found when taken from other people. One, two, three. The number does not matter. The more you learn from those around you, the better person you will find yourself being.

Taking a step is usually easy, it is the leap of faith that usually is the hardest part. But our lives evolve around the steps we take. We don't just grow up the second we are born. And most of the time, the steps we take for so long usually lead us to what we've been searching for without us even knowing what the hell we were looking for in the first place. And if we don't know, that's okay. It is said that the more you know, the better. But sometimes the less you know can help you out as well. It is a process. If a human being was born knowing the answers to the ultimate questions of life – there would be no room for anyone else to find their own answers. The most rewarding things is to know that you found something that you've been looking for. Like the book you almost forgot about, or the movie you used to know every line of.

And when you look up at the stars, you might just get an idea of what has been in front of you all along.
