My First Fishing Adventure Kenya

Casting into the Syokimau Dam

By Mahesh AnandPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

Welcome to my fishing blog, where I'm excited to share the story of my very first fishing experience. As someone who had always been fascinated by the beauty of nature and the allure of the water, I decided to dive into the world of fishing. With a mixture of hope and curiosity, I embarked on an unforgettable journey, hoping to reel in not just fish but also a sense of connection with the natural world. Join me as I recount the highlights, challenges, and lessons learned from my inaugural fishing expedition.

The morning of my fishing adventure was brimming with enthusiasm. The sun's rays spilled through my bedroom window of Great wall Apartments, filling the room with a sense of anticipation. I eagerly prepared myself for the day ahead, gathering essential items and double-checking my fishing gear. My fishing gear was a stick from the broom ,fishing wire which barrowed from cobbler ,bikes nut and hook ,Excitement coursed through my veins as I slipped on my lucky fishing hat, a symbol of the countless possibilities that awaited me.

With my bag packed and my fishing rod in hand, I set off on my foot, the Beijing Road leading me to a Syokimau Dam. While I was walking I have to see local Kenyans wondering what this Muhindi is doing with broom stick and a bag I decided not to indulge with any one ,As I arrived, I couldn't help but be captivated by the tranquil beauty surrounding me. The Dam is surrounded by a tall grass and acacia trees and water birds on tree the sounds of nature filled the air, calming my nerves and reaffirming my decision to embark on this adventure.

With a sense of purpose, I made my way to the water's edge, my fishing rod in hand. Guided by the knowledge I had gathered through the locals , I meticulously set up my gear, ensuring everything was in place. The excitement grew as I attached a earthworm to my line, ready to tempt the fish below the water's surface.

With a graceful cast, my line soared through the air, the earthworm landing in the water along with my weight ,my floater made from a old slipper just on top of the water surface but it was parallel to the water , which means the water is shallow my weight is touching , then I have to adjust the floater and cast it again this time it was perfect the weaight is suspended in water floater is vertical . Time seemed to stand still as I settled into a comfortable spot, my eyes fixated on the ripples created by my bait. Patience became my ally, as I waited, fully immersed in the moment, for the first signs of a bite.

Hours passed, and the world around me seemed to fade into the background. Surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature, I found solace in the rhythmic lapping of the water and the chorus of birdsong. It was in this tranquil state that I learned the true meaning of patience and the art of being present.

Just as my hope was beginning to waver, My floater started dancing up and down , sending a jolt of excitement through my veins. It was the moment I had been waiting for. With adrenaline coursing through me, I grasped the rod firmly and lifted it up ,

As the evening wore on, my determination paid off. I successfully caught my first catch small Tilapia a beautiful fish glistening in the sunlight. The sense of accomplishment and connection to nature that washed over me in that moment was indescribable. It was a memory carved in my heart forever.

As days passed by, I was able to do some small changes with my fishing gear and bait , earth worms collected at the edge of the pond were very delicate and soft ,fish use to steal them without getting into hook, I purchased strong worms which later helped me to catch big fish including Mudfish /Catfish , Made many Kenyan friends alongside the dam , Some hustlers catch fish and sell at the end of the day to make some bucks ,others pass by asking for small fishes so that the can make a meal , I really miss my fishing days ,duckweed ,collards /kale and spinach farmers on the edges of dam , snakes and ducks stealing fish from dam , empty days with not even a single bait , after I returned back to India I still remember my first day which helped me to dive into fishing world .

My first fishing experience exceeded all my expectations. From the serenity of the early morning to the exhilaration of hooking my first fish, every moment was filled with wonder and discovery. As I reflect on this unforgettable adventure, I realize that fishing is not merely about catching fish. It's about immersing oneself in the beauty of nature, finding solace in patience, and forging a deeper connection with the world around us. And so, with newfound passion and a hunger for more,

success
