"To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing." - Ralph W Sockman

We all want assurance and guarantees in life, especially when it comes to our own safety, finances, family, and lifestyle. There's just one problem though, there aren't any real guarantees and assurances in life. Even when we hear about these "money back guarantees" on various products we purchase, or services we accept, there is nothing to suggest that the retailer or seller won't find a loophole in their terms and conditions to decline the guarantee, or they could perhaps go into liquidation, out of the blue. When we head off to work in the morning, we don't even think, for one minute, that we are placing our life at risk, the moment we step out the door. We may be involved in a tragic car accident, we may become a victim of a terrorist attack, we may suffer a heart attack, or we may be the unfortunate one whose life is lost due to an unexpected event. This isn't aimed at filling you with immense fear, to the point you are the frightened to even step out of your house, but the message is that none of us know what the day ahead will deliver. We simply assume that nothing will happen, we feel pretty comfortable that nothing will happen, and we feel pretty positive that nothing will happen, but do we actually have complete assurance and guarantee that nothing will? Of course we don't. No matter what we do in life, we are always at the mercy of something unforeseen and tragic happening to us, even if the potential is extremely unlikely. We don't think of something like this happening to us on any given day because, not only is it highly unlikely, but we haven't experienced or witnessed anything in the past. With this in mind, we step out of house, head off to work, and go about our day as always, without giving as much as a thought to the potential risk we are placing our life in. Why can't we have this same mindset and attitude when it comes to taking risks to enhance our life, and progress towards our goals though?

The scenarios I list above can all lead to the end of our life. Now you would think that our life itself would be reason enough to always be cautious, to always seek safety first, and to always protect ourselves to the absolute fullest, right? What people seem to be more cautious of though, and protective towards, is their money. Any opportunity that involves investing money into, most people will often shy away from, at least when it has the potential to fail and leave them penniless. There is the potential for great success and wealth also, but because there is that possibility that this particular investment or opportunity may end up failing, and potentially leave them with an empty bank account, most people will decline to proceed. The sad part to this is that these opportunities and investments that people refrain from investing in, are often their own goals and future. They can see the benefits of proceeding with these opportunities, and the attractiveness of achieving all they desire, but the thoughts of failure and financial loss overwhelms them. It's typical human behavior that our mind always resorts to survival mode. We direct our focus to all the potential negatives rather than focusing on all the potential positives. It's unfortunate that we always allow the negatives to dictate our decisions. We can be living the most unsatisfying, unhappy, miserable, and unrewarding life, and yet still decline to proceed with opportunities that can positively transform our life, achieve success, and achieve prosperity, all because we are fearful of the worst happening. We would much rather remain as we are, as uncomfortable and depressing as that may be, than take the risk of proceeding with an opportunity that has no guarantees, which is basically every opportunity. The fear of failure, financial loss, embarrassment, judgment, and being inadequate, are more prominent in our mind than creating the life we desire.

So here most of us are today, living an unfulfilling, unsatisfying, and unhappy life, all because we lack the courage to take risks in life, and get to work on designing a future we truly desire for ourselves. We long for success, happiness, satisfaction, and wealth, but rather than take risks, make sacrifices, and work hard for them, we want them to come easy. We want these rewards to manifest themselves magically, but life doesn't work like that however! We need to take risks if we want the rewards, it's a non negotiable. We are in fact taking the biggest risk of all by not taking risks in life, because we are risking our future, our happiness, our lifestyle, our mental health, our goals, and prosperity, in not taking up our opportunities. Do we really want to spend our life constantly feeling unhappy, constantly struggling financially, constantly living an unhealthy lifestyle, and constantly starved of success and goals accomplishment? That's not living! The biggest risk we are taking is the risk in not trying. Why gamble on your own future? Money can be spent, but can be earned again, time cannot! Each day we are wasting being unhappy and unsuccessful, becomes another day wasted. Be brave, have the courage to step out of your comfort zone and take some risks. Start designing the life you want right now, and stop placing your future at risk. Yeah sure, you will encounter failures, many of them in fact, but never give up taking risks and working on designing the future you desire. What risks are you going to take today to work towards the future you desire?
