“Be fearful of mediocrity.” - Jonathan Ellery

Every single day presents an opportunity for us to start working on designing the life we desire for ourselves, an opportunity for us to start working towards our goals, an opportunity to start working towards creating success for ourselves, an opportunity for us to begin engaging in work we are truly passionate about, an opportunity to begin creating wealth, and an opportunity to start creating a life enriched with happiness. What wonderful rewards and blessings these are to obtain, and yet for most of us, we turn these amazing opportunities down. Happiness, success, lifestyle, work satisfaction, prosperity, and goals accomplishment; six things that we so desperately would love to delight in, yet the majority of us are starved of. What doesn't make sense is that we would love to relish in these rewards, but we actually choose not to. That is correct, WE make the choice not to accept these rewards on offer to us. As much as so many of us love to pass the blame on other people, circumstances, and external reasons, for not being able to receive these rewards into our life, there genuinely is nothing that prevents us from obtaining them, apart from one factor.....ourselves. How does this even make sense, that we could desire these wonderful blessings and rewards so desperately, and yet we choose not to strive for them? We know that the choices and decisions we make in life are determined by the mind. Our thoughts, beliefs, feelings, opinions, and emotions are all generated within our mind, and they are always influenced by what we have heard, what we have seen, what we have experienced, or perhaps what we assume. It's right here where the problem lies for so many of us, as to why we turn away from the amazing opportunities to create such a wonderful and rewarding life for ourselves, that are right in front of us every single day!

The biggest factor as to why we turn down these wonderful opportunities to positively transform our life, is fear. Our mind is overwhelmed with fear, despite what we try and tell ourselves, or try to justify to others. People will never admit to the fact they are fearful of opportunity, because they don't want to portray themselves as being weak and cowardly, hence why they try and hide behind some form of reason. The truth is, as much as they try and convince themselves they have reasons not to proceed with opportunities, they are actually nothing more than excuses. It's fact, that if you were genuinely determined to achieve something so greatly in life, you find a way, no matter how difficult and challenging that may be. It's this fear of change, failure, financial loss, criticism and judgment from others, and having a lack of knowledge and ability, that people are chained by. It's this adoption of belief that it's "better the devil you know, than you don't know", that as much as their life may not be satisfying the way it is now, it may become worse if they accepted to take up the opportunities before them. In order to obtain success, happiness, prosperity, lifestyle, work satisfaction, and goal accomplishment in life, then we must be prepared to take action and work for it. It doesn't magically come to us, like most people seem to sit back and hope it would.

Let's face it, we have a choice of what life we desire for ourselves. We can make changes, make tough decisions, take risks, make sacrifices, and show courage, determination, and patience to begin undertaking the actions that are working towards creating the life we desire, or we can do nothing, and continue settling for a life of mediocrity. This mediocrity includes settling for any old job, rather than one we are passionate about, and enjoy. It includes earning an income just enough to get by, yet we constantly face financial struggle. It includes living a lifestyle that is unhealthy, unenjoyable, unsatisfying, and unrewarding. It includes constantly dreaming of our goals, rather than ever actually achieving them. It includes sparse moments of satisfaction and happiness, whilst for the majority of the time, it consists of unhappiness, misery, and even depression. It includes good work, but never great, with no genuine success. Why would we ever want to settle for mediocrity? We fear the likes of change, failure, financial loss, criticism and judgment from others, and having a lack of knowledge and ability, when we really should be fearful of mediocrity. No one says that success, happiness, prosperity, lifestyle, goals accomplishment, and work satisfaction, are easy to obtain. To be honest, they take years of bloody hard work, patience, and resilience, but they are definitely achievable if we remain determined and driven to achieving them. Stop making excuses, and instead, ask yourself, "do I really want to continue to settle for a life of mediocrity, and face the consequences of regret for not taking action in my life, when I reach my senior years, or do I want to prove that I'm not cowardly and weak, and that I am going to create a life to my desire, and accept the opportunities to pursue my goals?". Don't let fear determine the life you live, but instead, let your goals and your hunger for happiness drive you! Your biggest fear should be that of living a life of mediocrity, because that's an extremely scary proposition in choosing how you wish to live! You have greatness with in you, it's time to prove that!
