In 7 grade, I had a friend who had another friend, who both were very close to each other. The first friend was a sweet kid, very smart and quiet. He uses to bring sweets to the school in a little lunch box. His grandma uses to cook him sweetie, and grandma sweetie you cannot buy in the market store. We use to have a break between 9 am to 9:20 am. My friend's second friend used to open his little box and take some sweetie, without his friend's consent. Eduard always uses to ask around, why is little box always use to have less sweetie. He could not understand. And Stuart was always eating sweetie in the class. He always uses to ask Stuart where he bought that sweetie. He uses to say, "my friend gave it to me." that was a lie. Eduard never allowed him to open his lunch box and stole his homemade cook sweetie. But Stuart uses to say, "Eduard, my best friend, he always gave me this sweetie, bla..bla..blaa." So one day, Eduard discovered that Stuart was taking his sweetie without his permission. Eduard was so disappointed with Stuart. How could he lie like that? Beyond stealing his grandma's sweetie, he made up crazy stories and said that Eduard was giving him the sweetie when Eduard had no idea of that.
So Eduard walked into class one day since no one wanted to get in the middle of that. Eduard saw Stuart stealing his little lunch box that had sweetie inside. Eduard said, "what are you doing, Stuart?". Stuart said, "what? are we not friends?". Eduard became upset not because he was a stingy person but because he was opening his box without his permission. Eduard said, "why you had to steal my sweetie? you could have just asked." Stuart didn't know what to say, he was so embarrassed. from that day on, Stuart started to bring also some fake sweetie. No good has Eduard, sweetie. In the end, everyone in the class was eating sweetie with both kids. Until the day the teacher discovered everyone was eating too much sugar and called Eduard and Stuart's mother.
Did you ever feel like someone stole something from you? Your privacy, your lunch box. and tried to make you believe that you allowed that. Did you ever feel like Eduard? That's the difference between given and taken. Given is something that is free will and cannot be messed up with taken. So if ever someone stole something from you and tried to make you believe that you're given something. Do not believe that. Exist a huge difference between these two words. Sometimes we have to put a padlock in our lunch box because there are "friends" who will steal your lunch box and try to convince you that you gave it, that you allowed that. When you didn't.
Instead of continuing to act like that, Stuart changed his behavior and apologized to Eduard, and brought his own lunch box. with his own sweets. And everyone was happy. Sometimes better than be right is have peace. Not try to win win win at any coast.
