This year hit us very hard. Clearly! The unexpected, unseen and the uncertainty was everything 2020 was all about. 2020 confined us inside four walls and one roof, unmotivated us, financially drained us as well as took a huge toll on our mental and physical health. At present, we are facing yet another lockdown of the year, and it is important to make some changes now that we are more aware and have familiarized ourselves with the situation we are dealing with.

Why make lifestyle changes now? Well, we all saw the impulse decisions we took when the uncertainty landed on us. We neglected and lost ourselves in between. It is best to learn from our mistakes and make use of quarantine to refine and better ourselves.

“No one can predict the quantity of a lifespan but we can affect our quality of life exponentially.”

― Johnnie Dent Jr.

This quarantine make sure to focus on yourself and include the following healthy changes into your routine:

· Eat healthily

We filled our carts with all kinds of junk foods that unknowingly affected us adversely. Especially with the second wave, make sure you eat healthily. Foods that strengthen your immune system with like Vitamin C rich fruits (citrus fruits), garlic, bell peppers, yoghurt, green teas etc.

· Do regular yoga/workout

As much as yoga and workout are essential for your physical outlook, it is also important for your mind and inner peace. With being locked inside the house, the mind brings in a lot of negative thoughts but with yoga and workout, it is easy to eliminate those and focus on growth and positivity.

“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.”

– Joseph Pilates.

· Appreciate your little accomplishments

With the overwhelming atmosphere where there is little room to achieve anything, appreciate whatever little accomplishments you have achieved. Even the little things like washing the dishes, meeting the deadlines on time, and completing work should be appreciated by you.

“Never forget to smile and appreciate yourself.”

― Debasish Mridha

· Plan out your future

This is the best time to start planning out your future. More often than not, there is hardly any time out of the busy routine to thoroughly plan out your future, hence start it now! Manage your plans realistically on a planner and write out all the possible steps you need to take so you know what needs to be achieved and when.

· Take note of your costs

Since lockdown had put everyone in financial restrains, it is wise to note down your every spending in a notebook. Keep a track of what you bought that was of use and what you bought that went to waste and make sure you cut off that thing from the list. It is also a good idea to save that money for long term uses or at moments when things are a little tight.

· Pick a hobby

Picking a hobby can certainly make quarantine so much more fun! Explore your best sides and work on it to make living at the house more exciting! Starting a YouTube channel, opening a blog, creating a book club; all these can engage you and keep you busy throughout.

· Have a positive mindset

Having a positive mindset during quarantine has been the hardest thing for every one of us. Challenges and hardships are a part of life, try finding the silver lining in every cloud, and look at life with enthusiasm, excitement and love like before!

“Change your thoughts and you can change your world.”

–Norman Vincent Peale
