Jason Patterson commits
Kentucky adds new power back
Jason Patterson signed with Kentucky and is one of the most underrated running backs in the 2024 class. This kid will be special running the football in Kroger Field.
Let's get to know a little bit more about Patterson.
Position: Running Back
Size: 5'11, 200 pounds
Hometown: Sneads, Florida
Recruitment: Patterson plays at a smaller school in Florida, so not many people are talking about him as they should, as his numbers were insane. His only other offer in the SEC was Vandy, but Patterson is a quality running back.
Ranking: Patterson is ranked as the 526th player in 247Sports composite rankings and is a three-star.
Frame: Patterson has the perfect frame for a running back that mixes speed with the ability to truck someone. He will fit in well with Liam Coen's system.
Early Signing Day: Wednesday, December 20th is Early Signing Day, which means players committed to Kentucky's 2025 recruiting class will make it official by signing their National Letter of Intent (NLI). This is a big day for Mark Stoops and the Kentucky football program as they look to officially lock down some of the tremendous talented committed in the 2024 class.
HS. Scout report per Andrew Lvins
One of the more productive running backs down in the Sunshine State over the past two years. Dominated a lower level of competition as a junior and senior, totaling just over 3,800 rushing yards and 50 touchdowns on the ground. Has been utilized here and there as a run-first quarterback, but has the makeup of a potential featured ball carrier at the next level with his blend of quick feet, plus vision, and strong contact balance. Hasn’t been targeted a whole lot coming out of the backfield on Friday nights, but has flashed in the past as a pass-catcher on the camp circuit, which suggests that he can play all three downs if he improves take-on technique. Not only owns a 10.97-second effort in the 100-meter dash, but has also gone 4.5 on the lasers in the 40-yard dash. Likely going to need some time to get adjusted to the pace and demands of Power Five football, but has an all-conference type of ceiling.
