How we can all change the world, one flower at a time

They told us we couldn't change the world, I beg to differ

There’s a slight misconception that runs through our mind. An idea that we can’t take hold and take charge of this ride we call life. It’s not really a feel good philosophy, but just a recognition of the truth. As individuals we interact with reality, and as a whole we make it come true.

One might not be able to physically change society as it is, but individually we can change ourselves and let the effects ripple into this reality. A smile here, a good deed there, a good act here, a good cause there. Step by step we can take hold of what we truly need. And if others join the path, then the easier it will be.

We don’t need a hero, a superman nor a batman. Nor do we need leaders that simply act on greed. What we truly need are people, people like you and me. People that have good intentions and good desires to truly better this world. If the world is too big, then better the country. If the country is too big, then better your state. If your state is too big, your city then. Still too big, better your community. Not ready for your community, then better your family. Family too big of an obstacle, then better yourself.

There my friends is the key. The key to most of our world’s problems and needs. We often times wish to change the external in order to fix our internal when it should be the reverse. There will always be problems, obstacles, complications, sickness, desires, unwanted emotions and much much more. No matter what you do, you will never be able to fix the external world into exactly what you want. For even if you do get it, it will only be temporary and not only will there be new problems, your desires will change too.

So give up this idea of making the world perfect. Perfect is an unattainable goal when it comes to fixing your life and your world. Instead, aim for being at peace with everything and responsible for everything. Responsible not in the form of taking blame, but of being able to respond. Your reactions are always your choice.

If you think they just appear out of nowhere and you’re forced to act a certain way, you’re wrong. You respond however you wish to respond. Whether that response is conscious or not is a completely different question. A question that you yourself can answer by being more aware of your actions. Did you mean to respond that way? Did that question really offend you, or did you just react as if they were attacking you personally?Did you really need to do what you just did, or was it just a habit and that’s what you always do? Did what that one person said that one time really hurt you, or did it just shake your ego up a little bit?

Be aware of everything. The good, the bad, the happy, the sad. Don’t be swept away into unconscious habits and compulsions. This doesn’t mean to be passive and let people walk all over you, unless that’s what you truly want. What this means is that you are in full control of your actions, your words, your decisions. No matter the circumstances that have been given to you by the universe or society or your choices, you are always at the helm of your actions and decisions. Take control of yourself and start moving in the direction you truly want to.

Now, imagine if everyone could do this. Imagine the amazing possibilities of a world of conscious people taking the right steps to go down the right path. The world is not evil, although at times it does seem like that. The world is simply run by a small minority people who have taken the world down the wrong path. A path filled with darkness, competition, fear and tons of distractions to keep us at bay. The vast majority of this world is filled with people like you. People who might not know what it takes to fix the world, but they know what they need to fix themselves.

Once we give these people the power to fix themselves, the community will be fixed. Once the community is fixed, the city comes next. Once the city is in proper order, the state will change. Once the states start changing, the country will evolve. Once countries start evolving, the world is bound to change. This… This is how we change the world. By taking charge and changing ourselves and letting our collective change ripple through our community, city, state and nations. Not through some grand top down plan that involves government inefficiencies filled with corruptions and greed that only seems to get worse year by year.

So if you’re on this same path that I seem to be on. One that is filled with obstacles and challenges that can potentially restructure society so that we all can unlock the potential hidden inside each and every one of. Then I suggest you start changing yourself. What exactly needs to change, that is up to you. Just change, grow, adapt. Realize that the most beautiful lotus flowers come from the grimiest of mud. So turn your misfortunes into the best fertilizer you can make and let your flower bloom. And together, we can transform this ever decaying landfill into a garden of beautiful flowers.

Whoever you are, I wish you the best in life. May your wildest dreams come true, and may it benefit all of us too. Have an amazing life you bright being =) .
