How To Make Mornings Easier

5 Ways to Improve Mornings

Ever since I can remember, I have never been a morning person. Mornings have always been the most difficult part of my day to get through. Even though mornings are difficult, getting into the right routine can make the rest of your day run a lot smoother. Here are a few things I like to do that get me up and productive in the early hours of the day.

Prepare the Night Before

Doing as much work as you can the night before is extremely helpful. Small things like figuring out what to eat can take up valuable time in the morning. If you know what you are going to eat for breakfast, set it up so that you have as little to worry about as possible in the morning. Its helpful even if you're running late because you still might be able to grab something to eat when everything is already set up.

Packing your bag the night before really helps when you're running late because you are able to grab your bag and run out the door knowing that you have everything you need. If you're like me and love sleep, having as little things to do as possible in the morning can provide you with a few extra minutes to relax.

I attend a private school so choosing what to wear is never and issue for me. If you do go to a school that doesn't have uniform, choosing your outfit the night before is helpful. If you're extremely busy throughout the week, plan all five of your outfits on Sunday.

Get up the First Time

I think out of all of these, this one is probably the most important. It is also the one I personally struggle with the most. It's tempting to want to hit snooze and get " just a few more minutes" or you may want to lay in bed for a little "while you're awake" but that is probably not the best idea. When you're tired, time flies by. You can hit snooze, look at your clock 2 minutes later, and 15 minutes have passed. Hitting snooze can also become a habit that will be very hard to break in the future, so it's best to not allow it to form in the first place by getting up the first time.

Listen to Music

This is my favorite one. When you get up, the first thing you should do is turn on some music. Listening to songs that inspire you or get you excited makes the process of getting ready way more fun.

Listening to music can cause you to easily lose track of time so be mindful of that.

Get the Right Amount of Sleep

Getting enough sleep is very important. This was something that I personally had to experiment with on my own to be able to fully understand. Even though you might not feel "refreshed" when yo wake up the next morning, later on in the day you will see the difference. If you didn't sleep well, it will become very difficult to stay awake, making school, work, or any other activity you have planned difficult to accomplish.

Make Time for Yourself

At the end of your morning routine, it's always good to have some time to relax before you start your day. Leave a few minutes free to do whatever you want: listen to music, journal, read, drink tea, or even watch YouTube. Starting your day relaxed can help you think clearer and work more efficiently.

Some of these tips may not work for everyone. In order to have a productive morning routine, you should experiment with different things and see what works best for you. Remember, your morning routine is the foundation of your day, so make sure it's the best it can be.
