How I Helped Over 1,500 Creators Protect Their Content Online

something i never expected

I didn’t expect this to turn into anything.

About six years ago, a friend of mine reached out. She was a creator and knew I was pretty good with computers, so she asked if I could help her figure something out.

Her content had ended up somewhere it shouldn’t have been.

She didn’t know how it got there, how many people had it, or what she could even do about it. She just knew something felt off.

So I told her I’d take a look.

It Started Pretty Small

At first, it didn’t seem like a big deal.

We found a couple links. A few posts here and there. Nothing that looked massive.

But I kept digging.

One link led to another, then another. Different sites, different pages, same content. It started showing up in places we weren’t even thinking to check.

That’s when I realized this wasn’t just one upload. It had already started spreading.

That Was the Moment It Clicked

I remember sitting there thinking how easy it was to find once you knew where to look.

And then it hit me. If I could find it this easily, how many other people already had?

That part stuck with me more than anything.

Not just that it was out there, but how quickly it got there in the first place.

It Wasn’t Just Her

After that, I started paying more attention.

I’d randomly check things. Search names. Look through forums and sites I hadn’t even thought about before.

And I kept seeing the same pattern.

Different creators, same situation.

Most of them had no idea their content was already circulating.

Not because they didn’t care, but because they were busy doing everything else. Posting, growing, talking to subscribers. This just wasn’t something they were actively checking.

But once you start looking, you start finding things.

One Situation Turned Into More

After helping her, a few other people reached out.

At first it was just here and there. Someone would hear I helped and ask if I could take a look at their situation too.

I never really thought of it as anything serious. I was just helping where I could.

But over time, it became more consistent.

And every situation looked familiar. Different person, same pattern. Content showing up in places they didn’t expect, spreading faster than they thought.

A Year Later, Things Changed

About a year after that first situation, I realized I was doing this a lot more than I expected.

It stopped feeling random.

I wasn’t just helping one person anymore. It was becoming something I was doing regularly, and I was starting to understand it on a deeper level.

That’s when I decided to take it more seriously.

Not because I planned to turn it into anything big, but because I saw how common the problem was.

That eventually led to building Leakovi.

I Didn’t Expect to Enjoy It

The part I didn’t expect was how much I actually liked doing it.

There’s something about solving a problem that most people don’t even see coming.

It’s not obvious. It’s not something people talk about openly. But it affects a lot of creators behind the scenes.

And being able to step in, figure things out, and help clean things up became something I genuinely enjoyed.

What I Noticed Over Time

After working with a lot of creators, certain things started to stand out.

The biggest one was timing. If something was caught early, it was manageable.

If it wasn’t, it turned into something much bigger.

And most of the time, the difference wasn’t luck. It was just whether or not someone knew where to look and how quickly they acted.

How It Turned Into What It Is Now

At some point, I stopped counting how many people I had helped. Then I went back and realized it was well over 1,500 creators.

That part was kind of surreal, Because none of this was planned.

It started with one conversation, one situation, and just following it out of curiosity more than anything, And somehow it turned into something I now do every day.

Final Thought

If you had asked me six years ago what I’d be doing now, this wouldn’t have been anywhere on the list. But looking back, it makes sense.

It started with helping someone I knew, turned into something I kept seeing over and over again, and eventually became something I genuinely care about doing well.

I think that’s how most things happen.

You don’t plan it out perfectly. You just follow something that feels worth figuring out, and it slowly turns into something bigger than you expected.
