Becoming an Adult but When Do We Get to the Point Where We Really Have Our Lives in Order? When Does It Click?

Do you often hear people comment when asked how they are doing that they are "working on it" or " getting it together"? WHY is this a constant when we are supposed to be getting our lives together early on so we can be smooth sailing? The problem is that we are all lying to each other. We tell ourselves a false reality when we are young that if we just follow these specific steps, that life will fall in place. We will find sexy love, be brilliant bosses, and make enough money to comfortably fit our families of three, one dog, two cats, and a Billy Goat ( If you live down South). Here is some advice for young people to slap some reality into this unfortunate lie that we are told by others.

1. Scrap the myth that everyone will see the light in you.

This sounds harsh, but you are just one speck of energy in the entire universe. No matter what your parents, teachers, and therapist said to you when you walked across the stage getting your "Most Improved" award in sixth grade, virtually EVERYONE gets these around America and around the world. If you are searching for this approval at a young age it will only set you up to be an insecure adult fishing for approval from others. Trust me, a recovering perfectionist, and thanks to some advice from a beautiful angel you are already a God or a Goddess. Try as early as possible to feel that in yourself no matter if you got the "Student of the Month" sticker in the second grade or inducted into the Honor Society in College, you're better than that...

2. Get comfortable with your alone time.

Boy... if someone would have told me that the key to restoring yourself in peace, self-evolution, and health is when you shut the door or your eyes to yourself, it would have made the world of a difference. I am a very spiritual person, and I do believe that we are never truly alone for we walk with our ancestors and our past-selves. Of course, we have friends, lovers, and family but at the end of the day when we close our eyes we can't not go into a state of panic. I admit I am a sufferer of anxiety especially at night. It is scary to think that we may need help emotionally or medically in the middle of the night and that no one will be around to help. Sleep, eat, breathe, and keep movement in your life JUST for you. But BTW what I use at night for coping is meditation, quiet nature noises, white noise, and yes the famous ASMR. Trust me it will change you life ;)

3. Never quit on what you LOVE.

I am probably the poster child for perseverance. I have had gotten so many no's and so many close calls but no fruition with love and relationships, so many "failure's" in businesses, educational experiences, and even spiritual roots for myself. If we use these experiences and view them not as setbacks, but as little pieces that comprise who we are, we can take these moments as badges of our own awards in life. We come out of every situation 30 times stronger than we ever thought possible. For me, I am a lover of writing, I would like to be an author one day. If this is my goal them I will take it one day at a time, one paragraph, one sentence, one word at a time. If we keep working at it and committing to our own goals and NOT WAITING ON ANOTHER PERSON TO COMMIT TO US TO MAKE US FEEL FULFILLED then we will start to complete our goals, and hopefully become successful. If you want that relationship fight for it, if you want to lose 10 pounds fight for it, if you want to make new friends fight for those connections. Your time is so precious and make sure that the people you give it to are returning this gift.

LASTLY,

4. Find the GOODNESS in your situation regardless.

If you have laughed today or smiled then you are blessed! This is coming from a woman out of an depressive episode. If you loved watching Shane Dawson videos as a child and it makes you laugh every time, open your phone and watch it. If you love to bake brownies and watch the chocolate, fudge deliciousness rise in your oven, MAKE them! If you love to sing Whitney Houston karaoke, SING it especially when no one is watching except the best and non-judgmental audience, you. Make sure that you do not over-give your energy to anyone or anything. Your energy is better protected. Be comfortable and try to avoid over-exerting your warmth to people that use this to serve there own intentions.

Hug yourselves tight when your alone and do something kind each day. Follow through on your commitments and dream bigger and bigger at every age. Life is a bumpy journey, and there is no such thing as having it ALL together. Work on your self-evolution and see where life carries you. Much Love to everyone that reads. <3
