From Breathless Pain to Boundless Purpose: A Story of Hope, Loss, and Triumph

How a dying boy rose to inspire a generation

By Abdessamad AzlouPublished about a year ago • 2 min read

I was born in a small village in Morocco, and I came into this world carrying a heavy burden—a chronic and severe respiratory illness. From a young age, I suffered immensely. My childhood was not filled with play or laughter, but with silent battles. I spent my days like an old man trapped in a frail body. Even walking 100 meters felt like carrying a massive stone on my chest.

I never experienced a night of peaceful sleep. Death felt closer to me than life. What hurt the most wasn’t the illness itself, but the fact that no one seemed to care. People saw me as a burden. All but one—my grandmother.

My grandmother, may she rest in peace, was the only soul who stayed by my side. She too was battling multiple illnesses, yet she gave her life to save mine. She never slept; she would stay up with me every night, holding my hand, comforting me, praying for a miracle. She was the one beside me when I woke up from a coma in the hospital. I remember one day overhearing a doctor tell her, “He won’t live much longer.”

I cried endlessly. But my grandmother didn’t. She refused to give up. She tried everything she could—camel milk, a mixture of black seed, pure honey, and olive oil, and herbs I never knew by name. She fought for me, because she had walked the same path of illness herself.

On top of all this, I suffered from seasonal skin and eye allergies, especially in spring and around dust. But despite 14+ years of pain, I finally healed. Thanks to her. My health returned. My joy returned. My life began to flourish—happiness, friendships, energy.

But that joy didn’t last forever.

Three years after my recovery, my grandmother passed away. Her death broke me. I fell into a deep depression for two years. I didn’t want to do anything. I didn’t want to live. I wanted everything to end.

Then one night… I saw her in a dream.

She smiled and told me, “I want you to succeed. I want you to become a genius. I want the whole world to speak your name.”

I woke up with something new burning inside me—a fire I hadn’t felt before. From that day, my life changed.

I learned English at lightning speed. Then French. Today, I speak five languages. I taught myself programming, machine learning, and mastered six coding languages. I became highly skilled at using artificial intelligence to simplify my life. I also developed the confidence to speak to people and learned how to prioritize what truly matters in life.

Today, I am seen as a role model in my small community. But I know this is just the beginning. What’s coming is far greater. And my name—will be remembered in history. That’s not arrogance. That’s a message.

A message to you.

Don’t give up. Don’t lose hope. Don’t let your light fade.

Keep going. Spread love. Help others. Never stop learning—especially self-learning. Develop yourself every day. Chase your goals with purpose. Find meaning in your life, and never let chaos steer your path.

You are capable of great things. And I am here for you.

If my story inspired you, share yours with me… and begin your journey today.
