I’d like to take a moment to give a shout out to Vocal and acknowledge all that they give to us. I’m hoping my assertion won’t be misconstrued as just an overture for Brownie points or just another complimentary kiss-ass piece. Seriously, It’s recognition for their gift to us that motivates me.

At 81 I may be one of the oldest members, I haven’t researched it. At this late stage in my life, Vocal has brought me back to me. I had lost me and wasn’t the least bit interested in finding myself again. I’ve had a long and quasi eventful life, I’ve done many interesting things and found contentment in knowing it was coming to a close, but Vocal changed all that and allowed me to rediscover how in love with words I once was. However compared to some of the creators Vocal attracts I’ve barely scratched the surface of achievement. Especially writing.

The many individual writers—supposedly all with the same goal—of personal discovery and expression. This is our commonality and the pure genius behind Vocal.

As different as we all are - in Vocaleze we are the authors of our own story. Writers telling each other our personal journey. Finding ourselves and each other in the process.

Maybe that’s all it is, what if there is no more. Its us finding each other and ourselves through writing. Vocal is a means of polishing our literary rough edges. We have been provided with a plethora of tools and they keep introducing more. I know they care about us, I know they’re listening. I know they want us to excel and be our best. It’s all about discovery, be it ourselves, each other, the world around us and even discovering Vocal as it discovers itself. It’s surprising how organic it is.

Vocal is a multi-faceted, multi-opportunity, multi-generational, tool box. It also doubles as a capacious sand box for us to play in. Vocal is our playing field. If some of the players are disgruntled—finding fault with their standards or methods, it says more about who they are and those seedy expectations we sometimes let control us. These aspersions are quickly and kindly rectified by the group. As far as the platform is concerned they are what they are—they give what they give—share what they share—ad infinitum, and they PAY you for letting them do it. I’m going into my fourth month in Vocal+ and so far have broke even with bonuses.

If you submerge yourself in Vocal’s world and not let your expectations rule you, they provide you with the mechanism to reach your highest potential. I love Vocal for what they give to us. I love Vocal for how it brings us together and no one posts disparities which is a testament in itself. We’re possibly more civilized as a result. These traits to love and encourage one another flow over into our daily habits.

As individuals, from different countries, ethnicity, backgrounds et al we come together for no other reason than to share our experiences, to have someone care enough to read and validate our most intimate musings. Many disagree about some of their conclusions like their strict policies on religion and politics but I’m inclined to believe it’s for the betterment of the platform. Avoiding controversy. There are layers in Vocal I have not yet explored, I’m new so no doubt will in time.

The plethora of Facebook groups available to post seem to be welcomed by Vocal I’m only guessing but I think the staff must stay in touch and listen to the comments, suggestions and gripes. These groups are strictly member created and operated by writers, the administrators work tirelessly to accommodate the eager to share swarms of members.

The creative avenues these groups take, are a bit whelming and there seems to be a new one crop every week. So far I am contributing member in these

Vocal Creators Lounge

Vocal Social Society

Vocal Cafe of which there are sub groups galore.

Here are even more I have yet to explore:

The Vocal Creators Support Group

Vocal Creators Saloon

Vocal Media Creators Hub

Vocal Progressive Group for Writers and Readers

I joined a new one today I don’t know it’s name but it offers so many communities to post your stories in. I get lost I admit it. It’s hard to keep up, and even harder to find it again. Posting and reading and commenting oh my…when do I get to write?
