Embracing the Enigma

A Journey of Self-Discovery

By Sula AkiPublished 3 years ago • 3 min read

Once upon a time, in a small, quaint town, there lived a young woman named Lisa. She was known for her extraordinary kindness and infectious laugher, but underneath all that, Lisa carried a heavy burden. She didn’t really know who she was or who she was meant to be.

Throughout her life, Lisa had tried to understand who she was and what she wanted. She explored various hobbies, changed her career path multiple times, and experimented with different lifestyles. But every time she thought she had figured it out, she found herself at a crossroads, unsure once again.

It all began during her teenage years when she was expected to choose a career path for the rest of her life. Lisa had a flair for art, so she enrolled in an art school. But as she delved into her studies, she realized that her passion for art was fleeting. Doubt nibbled at her as she questioned whether she really knew herself at all.

In search for answers, Lisa set up on a journey of self-discovery. She traveled to distant lands, met people from various cultures, and learned about their lives. Each encounter left her wiser and more experienced, but the puzzle of her own identity remained unsolved.

One day, Lisa fell in love with a charismatic traveler named Christian. As their relationship blossomed, Lisa believed that she had finally found herself. But as time passed, she noticed how easily she adapted to Christian’s interests and dreams. She lost track of her own desires once more, realizing that she was entangled in a web of confusion.

Frustrated and feeling lost, Lisa sought guidance from a wise old woman named Rose, who was known for her profound insights. Rose smiled warmly and said, “Dear child, discovering oneself is a lifelong journey, not a destination. Embrace the uncertainty, for it holds the key to your growth.”

Roses words resonated with Lisa, and she began to accept that self-discovery was a continuous process. Instead of searching for definite answers, she embraced the questions within her heart. With newfound courage, she pursued her interest without fearing they might change.

Lisa started to understand that her ever-evolving nature was not a weakness but strength. She began to cherish the uncertainty as it opened doors to endless possibilities. Slowly she found solace in her own enigmatic identity.

As years passed, Lisa's life took unexpected turns. She met new people, explored new passions, and navigated through both joy and heartbreak. Throughout it all, she held on to the belief that she might never fully know herself and that was perfectly okay. Lisa started to embrace the idea of perpetual journey of self discovery, she noticed subtle changes in her perspective and outlook on life. She became more patient with herself and others, realizing that growth took time and required compassion. Instead of dwelling on past mistakes, she saw them as valuable lessons that paved the way for her future.

Her journey led her back to rose, who welcomed her with a knowing smile. “Have you found yourself, my dear?” Rose asked.

Lisa chuckled softly and replied, “I have learned that knowing oneself completely is an elusive dream. But I have also discovered that embracing the journey of self-discovery brings its own fulfillment and wonder. I may never have all the answers, but I am at peace with the unknown.”

And so, Lisa continued to dance through life's mysteries, gracefully embracing the twists and turns of her enigmatic self. She realized that not knowing everything about herself was a beautiful part of the human experience, a testament to the depth and complexity of the soul. And in this acceptance, she found a sense of freedom and contentment she had never known before.
