Dragons Slain Never Win

There weren't always dragons in the Valley. But now with the state of the valleys that we live in, there are many dragons. The dragons that I speak of come in the form of things that are plaguing our world. The sad part is that they have been here for as long as I can remember but now the dragons have gotten much bigger and they are attacking us now more than ever.

To be clear on who the dragons that I speak of are I will be calling them out by name. They are mental illness, drugs, the Ukraine crisis, refugee crisis, affordable healthcare, violent crimes, gun violence, racism, climate change, unemployment, the federal budget deficit, economic inequality, domestic terrorism, international terrorism, sexism, gas prices, food prices, wars, the coronavirus outbreak, and domestic abuse.

These dragons are plaguing us and seem to get worse with the passing of each day. Many people are struggling to make ends meet, feed their families, put gas in their cars, and just live a comfortable life. It hurts to see the things that are going on all around us and many people don't mention it as if it is not a problem. Many of us try to carry on with life as we know it but it is extremely hard.

It breaks my heart every time I see a woman or man on a street corner with their children holding a sign that says they need money to feed their children or they are out of work and need a helping hand. It makes it so hard to understand how this could be in the land of the free. The dragons seem to have taken over our country. The people are barely getting by.

I wonder if the dragons will ever die, I wonder what the people in charge will do to help us slay these dragons that appear to be unslayable. These dragons seem to keep multiplying day in and day out. Is there anything that we can do to stop them? We have already lost so much and I feel like we will lose more.

Will we ever get back to a place where we can actually breath and not struggle to make our ends meet? Will we ever defeat the dragons and take back our land? Will we ever get to a place where we don’t have to depend on men? I’m really looking for the ultimate dragon slayer to come in and wipe out everything. The valley is full of chaos and confusion. It feels like a nightmare that I can’t wake up from.

It feels like it’s all a dream and I will hear my alarm soon. I hope it’s not too late when the dragons are finally slain. Innocent babies lose their lives because the dragons are still very much alive. I challenge us all to dig deep, to help out a person in your valley that is in need. It could be a random act of kindness or a hot meal, it could be a couple of dollars or a gas card, it could be a question “can I help you with anything?” I see that you are down on your luck.

Just a small token to show that someone cares could go a long way for someone in despair. Let’s lookout for our neighbors and the people in need, it makes the difference between life and death. We are all dealing with some type of dragon and it may not be one of these. You can’t look at a person and always see their struggles, but if you lend a helping hand it could replace some of the rubble.

As I close, the dragons will die in the end and the valley will be safe again. For our sisters and brother, our children, and our friends.
