Ever since the NCAA changed the rules allowing for spring and summer official visits, top prospects have been taking their trips earlier and earlier.

According to On3, Zephyrhills (Florida) five-star defensive back D.J. Pickett has locked in four trips.

The nation's No. 4 overall prospect - and versatile cornerback/safety recruit - will take trips to LSU (May 31), Georgia (June 7), Miami (June 14) and Oregon (June 21).

That list is far from a surprise.

Earlier this month, the 6-foot-3, 170-pound defensive back announced a top five of Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan and Oregon:

He has also visited Miami and Oregon recently.

Here's what 247Sports had to say about Pickett as a prospect:

"A tall, lanky two-way playmaker with foot speed and ball production. Size and weight haven’t been verified in a while, but length is noticeable on tape. Projects best as a field corner that can take away throwing windows or a deep safety that can roam over the top. Came down with four interceptions as a sophomore and had a pick-six early on in his junior season. Will lay the lumber if the opportunity presents itself. Quickly closes gaps with his elite burst and tends to take sharper angles in run support. Has the reach to match large tight ends and perimeter targets. Will fight through hands, but must improve prowess as an open-field tackler and will eventually need to add some mass. Should be viewed as a potential impact player at the Power Five level given range and ability to generate takeaways while masking mistakes. Owns a promising profile at this stage given production on both sides of the ball and multi-sport background (district champion as a 10th grader in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and long jump). Viewed by most schools as a back-seven defender on Saturdays, but could always get a look at wide receiver."

Undeniably, Pickett is one of the nation's most sought-after football players.

It's down to five, and four schools now know when they'll have the opportunity to roll out the red carpet.

Pickett plays both wide receiver and safety, but he is primarily considered a safety prospect. Pickett has explosive speed and takes long strides. He could also project as a cornerback at the next level.

The five-star runs track and also plays baseball and basketball. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound defensive back plans to play in the 2025 Under Armour All-America Game.

The lengthy safety is the No. 3 player at his position in the 2025 recruiting class. Pickett is the top-ranked player in Florida and the No. 7 player in the country in the 2025 recruiting cycle, per 247Sports.

Who are D.J. Pickett’s top schools?

Top school: Georgia Bulldogs

It’s been a while since D.J. Pickett visited Georgia football, but that does not mean that Picket doesn’t have Georgia on his mind. The five-star checked out Georgia’s spring game in 2023. Kirby Smart and UGA football finished with the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2024 cycle.

Top school: Oregon Ducks

The five-star safety could be the latest recruit to commit to the Ducks. Oregon finished the 2024 recruiting cycle with a top five class and carry a lot of momentum into 2024 as they join the Big Ten.

Top school: Michigan Wolverines

Pickett’s dad, Ryan Pickett, played football at Ohio State and in the NFL, so he has to be a little bit disappointed that his son does not have the Buckeyes in his top five. The elite safety visited Michigan in the summer of 2023.

Top school: Miami Hurricanes

Pickett recently check out Miami, who finished with a top five recruiting class in the 2024 cycle. The Hurricanes did lose defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae to the NFL. Addae was a key recruiter for Pickett.

Top school: LSU Tigers

The Zephyrhills star visited LSU this spring. The Tigers have an excellent history of developing defensive backs and are a popular destination for elite secondary recruits.
