Black Women Imitating White Women Is Dangerous

If you’re a 90’s kid like me, you remember what was in, in terms of body type. Flat-bootied, big-chested, thin-lipped blond women were the hottest thing on the planet. We know who they are, Pamela Anderson, Tera Reid, Heather Locklear. These women were the epitome of beauty, the girlfriends of rock stars — they had it all.

I remember growing up, a big butt was seen as a bad thing in white culture (I grew up in Minnesota around a lot of white people). It was something a girl would say to another girl as an insult. Or something a fake friend would say behind your back to your other fake friends.

Thick and heavy set white girls found approval and admiration from black men, that they couldn’t find from their own. In Minnesota, we call them wiggers. Big booty’s were always seen as attractive in black culture, at least as long as I've been alive. They were always celebrated, appreciated, rapped about and PREFFERED. Now I am not saying this obsession with big butts is healthy, because not everyone has one and that shouldn’t be seen as less- than. But back then it was a natural body that was being praised, and at least that was better than what’s going on now.

“Oh my God Becky, look at her butt

It is so big, she looks like

One of those rap guys’ girlfriends

But, ya know, who understands those rap guys?

They only talk to her, because

She looks like a total prostitute, okay?

I mean, her butt, it’s just so big

Uh, I can’t believe it’s just so round, it’s like out there

I mean, uh, gross, look

She’s just so, black”

Before the surgery came along, or was easily accessible. Some women resorted to weight gain pills or nutritional supplements. For those of us who are old enough to remember Buffy the Body, she claimed that this was her method of growing her butt.

In the late 90’s Jay Lo shot to stardom with her hit movie Selena followed by her hit song If You Had My Love. People were taken by her beauty, her sense of style — and THAT ASS. Suddenly all the white women started hitting the gym and doing squats.

Is it because of her (most likely) largely European background — they saw themselves in her? Yes — I think that’s exactly what it was.

It took a non black woman to make big butts popular — even though this trait has been attributed to black women more than any other group of women. It is not her fault that white America embraced her for having a curvy figure. This is what white people do. Completely dismiss and ignore a black person with a distinctive black feature, only to skip over them to praise someone white or white-passing with the same feature.

That was the late 90's

Things have changed so much since then.

More recently Kim Kardashian has done what Jay Lo did — been the non black champion of a black woman’s curves. Kim is not the first person to get a BBL, but I believe she is the most influential one. And just to make the distinction, I believe Jay Lo’s body was always natural and Kim K’s is not. Seeing Jay Lo’s body side by side with some of today’s hottest stars her butt actually looks small in comparison, which just shows you how outrageous these BBL’s have become.

Kim Kardashian and her family have led thousands of women to the operating table.

This is where I lose respect for the Kardashian Klan. It is one thing to mutilate your own body, but using deceit in a way to gaslight only contributes to the lack of self-esteem and self-worth so many women and girls are experiencing right now. It is also anti-black in the way that it robs and discredits those that it borrows from. Also how they are able to profit off of black culture in a white supremacist society because they have presented themselves to be an acceptable version of black — contributing and benefiting off of the erasure of actual black women. Of course there are others who contribute to this horrible BBL epidemic. The Nicki Minaj’s — Cardi B’s — various Instagram Influencers — etc. etc. However for this generation — Kim was one of the first, one of the most powerful, and there is the disturbing element of her being able to do this without being black at all.

I have a problem with a white woman leading black women to their deaths.

Black men in the music industry seem to prefer this body type — the influence is widespread, a lot of men in the U.S. prefer this body type now. Slim-thick they call it, problem is that it rarely exists in nature. White women got so much attention for having this black feature, that it dug into the insecurity of black women who did not have it, because not all black women have it; a stereotypical black woman’s big round butt. White women popularized big round butts in the mainstream, and further ignited the insecurity of black women who were not shaped this way, or were shaped this way but not outrageously. Not in a traffic-stopping way.

Here is where the issue becomes even worse for me. Their influence on black women. These procedures are increasingly popular amongst BLACK WOMEN.

Would Kim be as popular if she pandered to a white audience, and dated white men? I don’t think so. Part of the reason she is so popular is that she is striking a chord with the level of self-hate black Americans have for themselves, playing into black people's insecurities. Also, she presents herself as a multi-racial woman, which other cultures also find beautiful and exotic. As a white woman, she wouldn’t do as well, she is not the best kind of white. She also has publicly dated black men, aka damaged goods. White people will not take her back at this point, definitely not at the level of super stardom.

Kim Kardashian has constructed herself to be the most beautiful kind of black woman in the eyes of our society. A woman who appears multi-racial, and somehow possessing the best qualities from each ethnicity. It is like she was created by a mad scientist in a lab. Even though intellectually we know it’s not true I think subconsciously we have accepted her.

I don’t have a problem with their family gaining fame and fortune. I do have a problem with them promoting a look and lifestyle that is killing people. They have the best doctors on speed dial — something that most of us can’t afford. They can afford regular “maintenance” on their investment — most of us cannot. Yes this procedure has become more and more affordable with an average price of $5,000 and as low as $2,000. That means you could get this done for not much more than braces in some places.

Dr. Teddy Dubrow says that BBL’s are the most dangerous surgery. It is the most fatal surgery of any kind with the highest mortality rate.

Non black women in an attempt to emulate a slim-thick black woman, super sized their butts. Black women not to be overdone rose to the challenge. We are self destructing, lets save ourselves and stop competing with white women who are imitating us, and stop this vicious cycle.
