Be The Hero In Your Story

It's not cool to be a victim

In today's day and age, everyone wants to be a victim. For some reason, we decided that this was cool and so we applaud it. It seems that everyone is in a constant race to see who got screwed over by who the worst.

In my opinion, this is total bullshit.

Total and utter bullshit. There is no possible way for me to sugarcoat this.

And if this writing is already starting to "trigger" you or make you mad then please stop reading.

Think back to your childhood. Who did you want to be like? For me, it was Buzz Lightyear. I always dreamed of saving the galaxy just like Buzz always claimed he was out to do! Despite Woody constantly telling him that he was indeed a toy(Haha!). Anyway, that's beside the point.

For many, it was Superman or Batman or even Mario. The bottom line is no matter who you grew up idolizing we all wanted to be the hero. Nobody grew up dreaming of being the biggest victim. Nobody grew up plotting how they were going to get famous by claiming that someone screwed them over. Or by complaining on Twitter about how unfair life is. No. That type of stuff was usually what the villain(Loser in my opinion) did. So, why the sudden switch? Why did it all of a sudden become a race to become the biggest loser and actually win in the end? It's because we've gotten so soft and weak as a society. We go on social media and we see someone else's life that looks awesome and we know that we're too lazy to get there so what do we do? We try and cut them down or makeup excuses as to why we can't have what they have. We start to cut them down like a tree and attack their character or attack what they've busted their ass to create. This is total and utter bullshit and it's a cheap way to make yourself feel good inside.

How about some accountability? How about some hard work? Why don't we try that one on for size? The people you are seeing that are successful are people who started at the bottom. Sure, maybe they were blessed with some God-given talents and gifts but they still had to work hard to put those to use and make them work. Success doesn't just happen overnight. It takes years and years of work to achieve and even then, nothing is guaranteed!

So, what's the point? Stop trying to be the biggest victim. Get that thought out of your head. Instead, be the hero in your own movie! Be the superhero that your childhood self would want you to be. If your house is on fire don't sit on your hands and yell at your neighbor. Grab a firehouse and start working to put that thing out.

In the end, it all comes down to accountability. If your life sucks or you're at a low point then take the first step and admit that. Tell yourself, "I suck". Now, figure out what you're going to do about it. Ask yourself, "What do I need to do to be the person that I want to be?" It may not be fun at first and it definitely won't be comfortable but you'll be on the path to where you want to go. Be the hero. Be Batman in The Dark Knight Rises after he gets his ass handed to him by Bane and he's in the bottom of that pit alone and weak. Then, miraculously that spark gets lit and he's back to training and busting his ass every day to do something nobody has ever done before. Get out of the pit. And what does he do? He gets out of the pit and saves Gotham.

Go save Gotham.

Don't complain about life at the bottom of the pit if you're not willing to put in the work it takes to get out of the pit. And most definitely don't point the finger at other people when things don't go your way.

Be the hero. Not the victim. Nobody likes a person who complains all the time about how hard life is.

You have the power to create your future no matter who you are. You might just be scared of the work it's going to take to get there. Well, I'm here to say that Rome wasn't built in a day and neither are you. Start with one step, one brick, and repeat that day after day.

Be the hero in your story!

Get After It.
