The past few months have been relatively hard in the USA because of diseases I don’t really want to mention. And in an effort to think more clearly, get some goals figured out and pick myself back up, I’ve decided to share my ramblings and goals for August. In my business, and blog.

So, if you’re interested let’s get into it!

BACKGROUND

To make this story make sense, let’s get into a bit of background. Back in March my husband and I both got laid off, thanks to the lockdown in the USA. We both worked at the exact same place in the airport. Thankfully, we were still doing fine because we had unemployment and savings to hold us up.

We kept in touch with our boss, and the return date kept getting pushed back. Until my sister called me (she also works with us lol) asking if I had seen the text from our boss.

They decided to keep us closed. Permanently. Within a matter of seconds, both my husband and I were now jobless. (My sister lives at home, so she is fine.) And, don’t forget, unemployment has already run out. We were basically screwed.

I, on the side, have been running a blog where my mission is to teach other women to start and run successful blogs and businesses. I was doing my best to get my little blog off the ground so I could eventually quit my job anyway.

Once the shock wore off, I realized this was the push I needed to go full-time. I’ve made a decision to stay home and vowed I’d never go back to the 9-5 life if I can help it.

So, that’s the short version of what’s been going on. Now let’s get onto the goals!

AUGUST 2020 GOALS

1. START MY ETSY STORE

This is something I have been wanting to do for a while. I’ve had Etsy stores in the past, all of them have been a bust. But I know I can make it work if I try. So, I started one on an impulse on August 1st.

My first product is for bloggers who want to schedule their tweets/social media posts faster. I’ve created a calendar to help you organize everything and schedule a month’s worth of tweets (or other posts if you’d really like) in one day!

I plan to launch more products soon, once I properly promote this one. If you’d like to see what I have up, you can check out my Etsy shop here!

2. MAKE 5 ETSY SALES

I actually had to up this goal. Originally, my goal was to make just one sale. To my surprise, within hours of launching my shop- I already had a sale.

I’m not going to lie to you, I cried when I saw that sale come in. I wanted to cry harder than I did but I didn’t want my husband looking at me like I was crazy.

This sale was proof that I can actually make this work. That I don’t have to live the 9-5 if I don’t want to. It is progress. And I am so proud of it.

3. 3,000 BLOG VIEWS

This is a goal I am shocked to make. My goal last month was to make 1,000 blog views. I thought that was an insane number.

Check out my views for last month:

I got 3,293 views!

Is that a lot of views? For many, no. But look at that compared to the month before:

In case you were wondering, I had only 743 views in June.

So… What changed?

A good Pinterest strategy of manual pinning! If you’re looking to start a blog or you already have one and you’re not using manual pinning, you are MISSING OUT!

I honestly knew manual pinning helped, but I just didn’t feel like putting to work out to do it. I regret that now.

Here are the resources I recommend if you’re looking to see some real jump in views:

-Tailwind

-Pinterest with El

4. 4 BLOG POSTS, 4 VIDEOS, 1 EMAIL AND 1 GUEST POST

Holy crap that is a lot of content! So, let’s break it down.

I want to post 4 blog posts on my blog, record and post 4 videos on my YouTube channel, send out one email to my list and even get in one guest post.

Don’t forget, I post on Vocal occasionally as well.

Why so much content?

I need to get a ton of content out in order to

-Keep growing my blog

-Grow the YouTube channel I just started

-Keep my email list engaged

-Grow quality backlinks for my blog to raise my Domain Authority

Plus, I like to write on here for a little side income as well. I feel I can be a bit freer on this platform and worry less about what I say, or if it is “SEO Friendly”

If I plan to make this business my full-time job, I need to put in the work.

If I don’t even have a job right now, and I am treating this as my full-time job, I need to be putting in the hours and pumping out the quality content.

Now, how am I going to do this? This leads to yet another goal of mine.

5. GET ONE MONTH AHEAD IN CONTENT

I have been trying to get a month ahead in content forever. I truly believe I can do it, but holy crap is it hard! The posting days come by so fast!

Now that I literally have all the time in the world to work on my blog, I know I can do it. If I get a month ahead, all I have to do is one video and one blog post a week in order to keep a month ahead.

It’s pretty simple that way right? I just have to put in more work upfront to make life easier later.

Batching also helps. If I write more than one blog post at a time, or record more than one video at a time, I can get and stay ahead!

That’s pretty much it for my monthly goals. I hope you enjoyed it!
