Robert Rodriguez is the writer and director of the 2020 American superhero movie We Can Be Heroes. It is a three-dimensional stand-alone sequel as well as a legacy to the 2005 movie The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl.[1][2] YaYa Gosselin, Lyon Daniels, Andy Walken, Hala Finley, Lotus Blossom, Dylan Henry Lau, Andrew Diaz, Isaiah Russel-Bailey, Akira Akbar, Nathan Blair, and Vivien Lyra Blair are among the film's stars. Rodriguez also served as the film's editor and cinematographer. Critics gave it varying reviews when Netflix aired it on December 25, 2020. A follow-up is currently being developed.

When Missy Moreno and her father Marcus get the call to come to the aid of heroes, Missy has to accompany her father and spend time with the children of other heroics.

Missy goes there to meet the other kids:

Wheels has superhuman strength, but his skeletal system cannot handle the weight of his muscles.

Noodles is able to extend his body.

Ojo, a mute person who expresses himself via art.

A-Capella, whose singing allows her to telekinetically move items.

Slo-Mo, trapped in a time warp and continually moving slowly.

visage Maker, whose visage may change to resemble anyone.

Time-bending twins, Rewind and Fast Forward.

The Wild Card is a superhuman with no control over his powers.

Guppy, who can mould water into whatever shape she can think of because to her "shark strength"

The children watch the television battle between the Heroics and the aliens, which culminates in the Heroics' captivity. It dawns on Missy that Ojo's paintings portend events to come. The children devise an escape plot after they find a drawing of aliens breaking into the vault.

Before Guppy subdues the guards, Face Maker fools one of them into entering the vault, whereupon he initiates an emergency lockdown. Wheels prevents the guard from pressing the button, Noodles swipes their security badges, and Rewind takes them back in time. When A-Capella builds a staircase to the roof, they are able to escape Mrs. Granada's sealing of the doors after she finds Missy in the corridor. After Noodles gets a car, the kids get away.

They arrive at Missy's grandma Anita Moreno's house, where she serves as the Heroics' trainer and assists the children in developing their abilities and teamwork. Grandma puts the kids through a tunnel that leads to an empty field when the aliens arrive in order to save herself from being caught. The children find an abandoned spacecraft and utilise it to get to the mothership. They find a purple pyramid-shaped room where Ms. Granada and the president are having a conversation. They were dispatched to prepare Earth for an extraterrestrial "takeover" as spies. The children are put in a cell. Using the children's tears, Guppy recreates the key and opens the door. After the children and the aliens fight, Wild Card is apprehended and brought in for interrogation as the others go in search of the pyramid.

Wheels breaches the motherboard, but Ojo divulges that she is the extraterrestrials' Supreme Commander and that she speaks. In the control room, Missy speaks with Wild Card, who has taken Face Maker's post. After deactivating the protection that surrounds the motherboard, Granada pursues Wild Card. Wheels and Noodles remove the motherboard and replace it with a new one, disabling the alien rocket and preventing the takeover while the children are fending off the aliens. The children are shocked to see their parents come out of the rocket. Ojo discloses that Ms. Granada and she staged the "takeover" in order to prepare the children to become the new Heroics. Soon after their parents get back together, the children are prepared to save the world.
