A World Without Shame

The way the world operates today.

By Nerissha HuntPublished 3 months ago • 3 min read

The world today is very sad. People believe that they can say what they please without a second thought, break the law without consequences and feel a sense of entitlement in life. The divorce rate is increasing every day because people rush into marriage or may not know what they think they did about their spouse.

There’s a difference in providing an opinion and saying something that you could have kept to yourself. Everyone has an opinion about something, good or bad. You should only offer your opinion if someone asks you, but we all know things don’t work that way. A difference of opinion is the way that the world works now. On the other hand, we don’t need your opinion about a person. If you hate a person for whatever reason or whatever it is you don’t like, keep it to yourself.

Next subject. Breaking the law. Some people think that the law does not apply to them. Stats drop or not, law enforcement, the rules apply to you too. Nobody will be brave enough to say it…but, I did. This is why people don’t trust law enforcement today. The same way that we get arrested and prosecuted, the same rules should apply. But, they don’t. Of course, ya’ll don’t need me to tell you that.

If someone is offended, sorry not sorry. Our criminal justice system is just jacked up like that. Those body cams can be turned off, the same way that we turn off our cameras on FaceTime when we don’t want to be seen. Don’t get me wrong, some officers do their job. But how many times have we heard about policy brutality? There are statistics of course but physically counting is impossible.

People, we aren’t entitled to anything. Some people have a “I’m better than him/her.” Where did you get that stupid mindset? You know where? All your life you parents taught you to feel like you were better than others and it followed you the rest of your life. I hate to burst your bubble but you are not better than anyone else. We are all people, like it or not.

Just because you have more education than someone still does give you entitlement. “I graduated with a more extensive degree. They aint got nothing on me.” Think again. Education is fine but here’s what you don’t know: A person can have less education and still get the job than the person with more education simple because of their work skills, achievements and things that they accomplished while they worked.

So, ha-ha to the person that felt entitled because of their extensive education. Where did it get you? Nowhere. Another thing about feeling entitled: working on a job. “Well I have been here longer, why did I get that promotion”? I DESERVE IT. Really? Do, you? What have you done other than your job duties? Come to work on time? That’s not promotion territory. People do that daily. A promotion requires initiative. Being the person that goes above and beyond. Not a person that complains all the time and expects the employee of the year award or a promotion, or bonuses.

Last and final topic: marriage. So many people are filing for divorce, its pitiful. It’s because they never took the time to learn about the person they married. They thought being married was a good thing, sounded nice, and would be that typical house with a white picket fence type deal. But when they find out different, its confusing because they say, “This is not the person I married.” What have I gotten myself into? You got yourself in a big mess. Now this person is treating you every which way but right.

They yell at you for no reason, verbally degrade you and in some cases, they may hit you. It’s because they want nothing to do with you and its horrible. Some spouses stay because they think it will change but they finally gather the strength to leave while others don’t live to tell the story.

I will end my story this way: Life has may factors that lead us on a path. It generates emotions similar to equations in math.
