These straightforward posting exercises perform wonders for young hands honing their fine motor skills and need little to no setup.Young children adore the audio stimulation that most posting materials provide when they drop into the container because it is exciting and distinctive. Our favourite posting activities, starting at 10 months old, are included below.

It's quite fine whether your baby shows interest in them sooner or later. You may set up your children for very harmonious play if you follow their interests and let them try new things along the way.

Straw Posting

Use a formula tin or an old oatmeal jar. Create a few holes that are somewhat larger in diameter than the straws you intend to use.Since I already had some of them in stock, my straws are on the larger side and have a diameter of around half an inch. However, the next time I would purchase the robust paper one with a same large diameter. Each straw has had its sharp ends removed, and I have divided them all in half.

Ball Drop

The same ol' oatmeal container can be made attractive by wrapping and hot-gluing a piece of coloured paper around it. Cut a hole slightly bigger than the size of the balls in the centre of the lid.

Feed The Bear

Use a box with a height of 2.5–3 inches (it should be higher than the size of pasta). Then, after the adhesive has dried, let the animal face dry on the box.Make a mouth cutout that can accommodate the pasta shape.Jady Alvarez's free bear printable can be found here. For children aged 1 and above, she also provides a tonne of straightforward educational things on her website.

Cork Posting

I assume you are familiar with the process. Wine corks with an old container with a plastic cover equals a fun fine motor activity for your child. Additional advantages of this activity include the need to prepare the supplies for use (wine corks). You understand what I'm saying.

Nut Posting

You can get by with a few variations. Use a plastic bottle with a wide neck OR a container with a plastic lid as described above. The final option actually requires NO setup. Just be sure to hand-select the nuts so they can fit inside the bottle and be removed from it.It is advisable to select a bottle with an opening that is large enough to fit the broadest side of the nuts if they have a little angular form.Finding the proper angle to fit the nuts when they are somewhat oval in shape adds to the complexity of posting them.

Book Posting

Small books and a large carton combine to create a fun fine motor and reading play. Your child will transition from placing the books in the hole to actually fluttering and interacting with the book itself without your knowledge. The box can be adorned with wrapping paper as well.

Lids/Caps Posting

You can use a plastic container or a cardboard box. Some shrewd mothers have also been known to use an old Tupperware container. You can also introduce shape sorting with this activity (big and small).Add two matching-sized bottle caps or lids to two cuts of varying sizes. Now, it's okay if your child simply pushes everything into the big hole.As with any activity, walk through the steps while modelling it and taking your time.

Card Posting

Using a recycled container for another well-liked activity.Cut a hole in the lid, put plastic cards inside, and play.Very similar to book and card posting, but using a different kind of content. Additionally, wrist rotation, focus, and hand-eye coordination are needed for this activity.

Now it's your turn!

Have you tried any of the aforementioned activities? What are your child's favourite fine motor posting activities? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
