“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorns have roses.”

― Alphonse Karr, A Tour Round My Garden

Most of the time, people assume that I am just a cold pessimistic person who wants to see the whole world burning. While in fact I am just being realistic and consider that things happen for a reason, so sometimes I try to defend my opinion using logic but other times, I also find myself walking away because it is useless to explain that.

When the COVID-19 pandemic first started, I did not take it seriously due to the fact that some similar diseases have taken place in the last decade and didn’t make such a big noise then. There is nothing good in watching people getting sick or facing the risk of death, but for some reason, I was optimistic about the quarantine thing due to the fact that humans have reached a point of no return when it comes to planet earth’s environment.

Here are 5 Reasons why I do believe that Coronavirus is serving us more than it is being harmful:

1- “The vacation we often need is freedom from our own mind.” -Jack Adam Weber

Now seriously how many times do we wish to skip going to work, school, or even wake up at all in the morning? looking from that angle, It might look attractive at first, but since now a long vacation is on, one can only appreciate how much our jobs, studies, and daily businesses shape who we are and makes us invest our time into something productive not only for the financial income but also to stay healthy, sane and fulfill our roles in the community.

2- “Spring adds new life and new beauty to all that is.”

— Jessica Harrelson

Since the quarantine started, no one can deny how much our environment has recovered from our daily wastes and consumption leftovers. Even tho global warming cannot go unnoticed with the daily weather variations. Still, nature has never seemed so attractive, we must indeed rethink about our behavioral influence on nature from now on.

3- “Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there is.” — Ernest Hemingway

We all have relatives, friends, people whom life was taking our attention away from. Quarantine is an eye-opening experience to realize how much of life we are missing already due to our daily priorities. Reach out for those you have not seen in a while, for life is just a trip on a road that is better to be shared with others.

4- “Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing.” — Camille Pissarro

Life can be cruel, harsh, and unfair. But counting our blesses instead of our misfortunes make us realize how much do we have compared to what could have possibly gone lost. For everything happens for a reason and its just an opportunity to look at things differently.

5- “Sometimes life seems a dark tunnel with no light at the end, but if you just keep moving forward, you will end up in a better place.”

― Jeffrey Fry

This COVID-19 experience should be a lesson to learn from, hope is always there that things will be hopefully better, everything will go back to normal, life moves on as it always does. The most important thing is to learn from this and not to give up.

Finally, humanity has already seen its share of similar pandemics, what matters really is how have we dealt with them, and the lessons we acquire from those times.

Hoping this will soon end, and wishing safety for everyone!
