Jonathan Van Ness is the grooming queen of Queer Eye's fab five, and we all wish he was our best friend, not only because he'd totally glam us up but also because everything he says is both iconic and real AF. He’s also so much more than just the grooming member of the team. I feel he goes a long way in teaching the people they help on the show, and us, about the importance of self-care and how it important it is for our health and well-being. With that said, here are just a few things he's said to give you a little motivation today and hopefully make you smile.

Don't be afraid to let that diva out; she deserves to be free every once in a while. You want to bust out those new heels, do it! You want to try a new color with your new hairdo, do it!
3. "When people say, 'you can't teach an old dog new tricks,' it's not true, because you can reinvent yourself and learn new things whenever you want." (S1: E1)
Don't let anything stop you from improving yourself. If you want to try something new, do it! If you've always wanted to paint, pick up some supplies and follow along to some tutorials online. Have yourself a little paint night with some pinot or even a nice sativa. This applies to anything you want to learn. It always comes down to just doing it.
4. "It wasn't an option for me to be closeted or to keep it to myself. Sky's blue, grass is green. Can't fight it." (S1: E4)
The best version of you is you. Be yourself, love yourself, and don't fight it, it'll only make it harder to find the amazing person that you truly are down the road, and nobody wants to deal with that struggle.

Let that con-fi-donce out! Let that doubt go, let the worry roll off you, and just let that inner queen free. A confident queen gets things done!

OK, so although I said there were five, think of this sixth one as a bonus one because I had found a video on YouTube I didn't know existed while writing this and needed to share it with all of you, and this quote goes perfectly with it! Nothing is more peaceful and serene than watching Bob Ross all cozied up on the couch, but Jonathan Van Ness as Bob Ross, can you believe?

THE HUMPTY DUMPTY SYNDROME:
How many times have you heard someone say, “Losing my job was the best thing that ever happened to me”? Does hearing this sentiment make you scratch your head in puzzlement? How could something so negative be so positive? What’s the person’s secret? Few of us begin our careers with the intent of doing something else. After all, we’ve invested quite a bit of time and money getting to where we are. We spend thousands of dollars and several years of our lives in pursuit of our degrees. We then invest even more time going after postgraduate degrees. An attorney, for example, spends a total of nineteen years in the pursuit of a law degree and then has to pass an extremely difficult exam, one which many fail on their first attempt. Doctors spend even more time in school and then devote even more years to internship and residency programs. Sadly, many of these dedicated professionals then find out they are not happy in their chosen work. Much like Humpty Dumpty, we proudly sit atop our wall of achievements and accomplishments, giving little thought to doing anything else. “After all, I worked hard to get where I am and I’m proud of it. I’m good at what I do and people respect me. You can’t expect me to want to give all this up, can you?” These are the words you hear from your logical, rational mind (or friends and family) whenever you even think about making a career change. Unfortunately, your true self, that part of you who knows what’s in your best interest, is often scream i n g for a change, nagging away at your thoughts until you begin to listen. A CLOSE ENCOUNTER
Stars twinkled brightly in a moonless sky, reflecting in the calm waters of Lake George in the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York. It was a warm August night, as we laid back in the boat, marveling at the magnificent Milky Way.
