After hours of dreaming up table runners, floral centerpieces, and china plates, it's time to get to work. And it's not an easy task, especially if you don't want to omit any detail. The banquet goes far beyond the simple food, the atmosphere and the decoration also play a vital role in the scene of your wedding. Discover then how to decorate it in 5 steps and without false notes!

  • Step 1. Organize the space
  • Step 2. Create corners
  • Step 3. Choose Items Carefully
  • Step 4. Place your centerpieces
  • Step 5. Don't overlook the details

Step 1. Organize the space

The decoration of the wedding is closely linked to the organization of the space, which will determine the type of tables and chairs used, the secondary spaces, and the layout possibilities. Added to this is the style that will largely govern the look of your meal.

We generally link the style to the season. Along with the time of year, the space chosen for the banquet celebration will also determine the type of your decoration. In spring or summer, the beach, the tents in the middle of the fields, the air-conditioned greenhouses, or the gardens make very good places for a summer meal, in total communion with nature. In winter, we prefer living rooms, hotels, or country houses.

In this sense, it is necessary to agree on the type of tables according to the wedding site. Round or imperial tables: the hardest part will be to make a choice. As for materials, with an infinity of possibilities, we make sure to match tables and chairs. Metal, iron, bronze, marble, glass, and wood of all types: the important thing is that harmony reigns over your beautiful day.

Step 2. Create corners

If one thing really differentiates one wedding from another, it's surprising. To stand out, nothing beats offering your guests original corners. Combining usefulness and aesthetics, we don't hesitate to have small gourmet corners with unique decorations on either side of your reception area.

These corners usually include canapes, craft beers, different types of wine, cocktails, or sweets. You can also divert their main functions by offering gifts to your guests such as sneakers or hats, creating a make-up corner for last-minute touch-ups, or having photos of your couple and your loved ones. Guaranteed effect!

Step 3. Choose Items Carefully

Crockery and table linens are closely related to the style of the wedding. The colors and materials are then mixed sparingly, in concert with the initial theme of the party, for a pretty table worthy of the greatest feasts. Plates, glassware, or tablecloths play an essential role and will give character to your decoration.

If you opt for a rustic-style wedding, we can imagine aged wooden tables, without a tablecloth, with wicker coasters and vintage crockery. For weddings on the beach, blue and white tones highlighted by a few starfish and large pebbles scattered around as a table runner will be perfect.

Step 4. Place your centerpieces

Centerpieces of your decoration, centerpieces usually give us a hard time. A crucial choice which, thanks to Zankyou's advice, is now child's play. Imagination and creativity as watchwords, they must correspond not only to the style of your wedding but also to your personality. In other words, they will be unique, like you and your other half.

Among the most used elements in the arrangement of centerpieces, it is recommended to use seasonal flowers, in accordance with the style of your wedding. The colors also play an important role in the floral choice and must be in harmony with the rest of the decorative elements. Glass jars or wooden supports are usually the accessories chosen to place the flowers, often combined with lanterns or candles to diffuse a bucolic atmosphere during your meal. For the imperial tables, choose the flowery paths, very romantic and wild at the same time.

Step 5. Don't overlook the details

Whether you hire a wedding planner or are a Do It Yourself (DIY) enthusiast, remember: beauty is in the details.

To surprise your guests we suggest, for example, naming the tables instead of giving them a number. Without questioning the glamor of mathematics, the words will make it possible to thematize the table and thus link it to the general theme. In addition, the vocabulary used can also serve as decoration and help you recreate a poetic and dreamlike universe. Do not underestimate the magic of the verb!

Any printed medium can also enhance your decoration. As for the menu, you can easily adapt it to the colors of D-Day. Whether it's the style, the tones used, the drawings, or the calligraphy, it will bring THE final touch to your table.

Finally, the photocall, set up near the banquet, is an element of surprise that will delight guests before, during, and after the meal. Just as it is welcome in many clubs and party spaces, at your wedding you cannot miss the opportunity to decorate your space and entertain your guests. Try to match the style of the photocall with that of the whole wedding and add props for all attendees to spice up their photos.
