The Real 'Secret': How To Make The Law Of Attraction Work

The Secret is one of the best-selling books in history: more than 35 million copies sold.

Although I bought the English version for $1 at a yard sale, I never really read it. And I’m glad I didn’t because I might have mistaken it for commercial New Age.

The Secret has undoubtedly improved thousands of people’s lives by revealing valuable information about the Law of Attraction and how things work in the Universe. Yet, it excludes vital points without which you cannot put the Law of Attraction into practice effectively.

What (Almost) Nobody Explains To You About The Law Of Attraction

Right now, there are hundreds of people sitting on their mats doing yoga, mindfulness, and other practices that indeed work, but not by themselves.

Most superficial approaches to the Law of Attraction consist of telling people to focus on what they want to attract and avoid thinking about what they do not want. It’s good advice, but something’s missing: vibration.

Our emotions can help us materialize whatever we want in life. And I really mean anything.

For the Law of Attraction to work, it is not enough to repeat positive affirmations all day. If your emotions are at a different vibrational level than what you want to manifest, nothing will happen.

This is why “attracting money with thought” is of no use as long as you do it thinking about how little money you have. My key to apply the Law of Attraction is: you can’t solve any problem from the same vibrational level in which it was created.

Let’s go back to basic physics, and everything will be simpler:

In the past, particles were believed to be fixed, immovable points that, when joined, made up matter. This is summarized by Newton’s theory. Later, when quantum mechanics came along in 1925, physicists understood that atoms are waves in constant motion. So, if all matter (including the human body) is made up of atoms, we are actually made of waves. That is, constantly vibrating energy.

In The Law of Attraction, one of the best books I’ve ever read, Abraham Hicks explains it like this:

Every object attracts that which resembles itself. This defines the most powerful law in the Universe, a law that affects all things at all times.

So, why do I always attract cheating relationships? Why do I continually get hired by yelling bosses? Wayne Dyer would put it like this: You don’t attract what you want. You attract what you are.

I am not saying that you cheated before, so you need to purge the blame now, but certainly a part of you did cheat to yourself. So yes, you don’t attract what you want… You attract what you are.

As I write this article at 2:03 a.m., a phrase comes by that sums up everything I am trying to say:

"Attraction is a law, but it’s the secondary law. The primary law is the law of vibration. The law of vibration is one of the basic laws of the Universe. It decrees that everything moves, nothing rests, we literally live in an ocean of motion.”

In passing, I also leave you a reflection of Bob Proctor on The Secret:

“It was based on the concept of the law of Attraction, and because the movie went viral it was all over the world. Everyone was talking about it, and people were writing books on it that don’t really understand it. I’m of the conclusion that Attraction is not really understood in any depth by most people”.

The only reason why it is so easy for me to manifest everything I want in life is that I vibrate at the same frequency as what I ask the Universe for.

There is no other way to do it. It is physically and spiritually impossible to build a life of abundance and fullness from lack and bitterness.

How to Make Attraction Work

My #1 step in applying the Law of Attraction is to enter a contemplative state to intentionally and consciously raise my vibrations.

A contemplative state can be any activity that makes it easy for you to feel good, in love with life, hopeful and confident that everything you want is coming.

Here are some contemplative activity tips that work for me that might help you too:

  • Contemplation. To contemplate is to delight in the positive aspects of something or someone that we love. It is perhaps the simplest way to raise your vibrations because you automatically remove the things you don't like from your head to direct your attention to a Source of pleasure. If you practice contemplation daily, it will soon become effortless to enter this state whenever you feel worried or upset. Hence, you create a “rebound effect” that will prevent you from continuing to attract situations that worry or bother you.
  • Exercise. When we exercise, it is inevitable to focus all our energy and attention on our bodies. We are more aware of our breathing, our emotions, and our physical experiences. I consider it a valid alternative to conventional meditation because it seems more natural and affordable for everyone.
  • Visualization. Before visualizing the reality you want, focus on raising your vibrations. Otherwise, you will be causing the opposite effect to what you are looking for. Now, if you are in the process of learning to raise your vibrations, the best thing you can do is stop thinking about the circumstance you want to change because, if you do, surely you will be putting resistance, and that will cause the shift you want to be delayed.

I will clarify this last point one more time:

The Secret emphasizes thinking and visualizing what you want to attract, but nothing will not happen if we do not develop a state of consciousness aligned with our desires.

The most straightforward example is someone who fervently wants to attract money into his life. He thinks about it every day, he visualizes it, he daydreams on it, but while he’s doing it, he’s feeling “poor.”

Usually, logic tells you that you need to attract money into your life because you don’t have it. The most common mistake people make when they practice the Law of Attraction without knowing the Law of Vibration is asking the Universe from lack. It doesn’t work like that.

Every time you review your lack in aspects such as money, love, health, or “good luck”, you are sending a contradictory and irreconcilable message to the Architect of All Things: give me this, I know I don’t have it.

We grew up in a “short of lights” system where we are taught that there is a linear order to everything we do. First, you bathe. Then we go out. In my case, madness and love for science have made my life enormously easier:

I know that we live in a multidimensional universe, and that time is not linear (although we have invented clocks).

Right at this moment, a baby is born, marrying, and having children at the same time. Not a thousandth of a second has passed. Everything happens now. Hence, the mantra that many people repeat without understanding: TIME DOES NOT EXIST.

The only thing that prevents us from building the future we want is our insistence on believing that there are ten years to go until it arrives when the truth is that the future is happening right now.

I have the future that I chose because I am consciously designing it with my vibrations today.

If you understand this, you will know why asking from lack is useless and why the Law of Vibration is fundamental for the Law of Attraction to work.

If you are a science kid, you know that all this coincides with wave mechanics and modern physics (rewatch Uncle Michio’s video): probability, probability, probability.

Science likes to call it probability, and that’s fine. The one who decides to put a cherry or a blackberry on the cake, in the end, is you.
