If you are the type of person who likes flowers so much that he has turned his home into a small garden, surely among the species you have are the exotic apartment flowers. In this article, we will talk about some indoor plants, inviting you, at the same time, to bring them to your flower garden and those that you do not have yet.

To find out more about the 10 most beautiful exotic apartment flowers!

1. Strelitzia reginae  - The bird of paradise

Rather known as the "Bird of Paradise", this plant, originally from South Africa, rightly occupies a leading place in a ranking of the most beautiful exotic apartment flowers. Its inflorescence appears to be the head of an exotic bird, which has an orange crest and a blue-purple beak.

The bird of paradise must be placed in a room flooded with light, and during the summer, it must be taken out 4–5 hours a day in direct sunlight, an essential condition for flowering. Although it must be watered abundantly, the soil must not be bitten by water.

2. Abutilon

Abutilon is a shrub native to warm climates and is related to hibiscus. Its leaves are reminiscent of maple, and the bell-shaped flowers can have various colors: white, pink, red, purple, gold.

These exotic houseplants are great lovers of light, so during the summer, they must stay outside in direct sunlight. In winter, the bush should be provided with temperatures of 8–10 degrees and, again, plenty of light. The soil is watered at regular intervals, but less often when temperatures drop.

3. Hibiscus

This tropical plant produces large, brightly colored flowers: orange, pink, red, blue, purple. To produce flowers, however, the plant needs a lot of light and heat. Hibiscus is very resistant to drought, so you do not need to water it too often: in summer it is enough to be watered about once every 4 days, in spring, autumn, and winter it can withstand up to two weeks without water.

In winter, however, the leaves of this beautiful exotic house flower should be sprayed daily with water to reduce the risk of mite attack.

4. Brugmansia suaveolens  -  The trumpet of angels

Also known as the "Angel's Trumpet", due to the flowers that resemble this instrument, this plant is native to South America. Brugmansia suaveolens belongs to the category of exotic apartment flowers that have a sublime scent that can be felt throughout the day.

The plant should be placed in the light, in direct sunlight, to help it bloom abundantly. During the summer, it can be watered only once a week, and in the cold season, once every two weeks.

5. Bougainvillea

Bougainvillea is a climbing plant native to Brazil, with white, orange, red, or bicolor flowers. It is one of the exotic house flowers that love light and heat, which does not need to be watered very often.

The less water the plant, the more it blooms, but its growth is slowed down. You only need to water it when the soil is dry. Being a climbing plant, it is recommended to be placed next to a wall and to be tied to support on which to hang.

6. Hoya  -  Waxflower

Hoya, popularly called "wax flower", is one of the climbing species of exotic apartment flowers. Its growth is quite slow, the first flowers appearing only after a few years, but its beauty is worth the wait.

The leaves are fleshy and twisted, and the flowers, usually pink, are star-shaped and have waxy petals, they are arranged in bundles or a crown and are also very fragrant. To produce flowers, however, the plant needs strong light. The soil is watered only after it has dried completely, about once every two weeks.

7. Plumbago  -  The flower of love

Plumbago is a climbing tropical shrub that has some blue flowers grouped in clusters. It is one of the exotic house flowers whose flowering depends on the light you provide. Loves both light and high temperatures.

However, if the temperature exceeds 25 ° C, it is necessary to spray the plant with water, otherwise, it will wither slightly. During the summer, the soil should be watered for about three days, and in periods of low temperatures, it can be watered for 10 days. To prolong the flowering period, the dead flowers of the shrub should be removed.

8. Adenium  -  The dessert rose

The desert rose is a plant that has its origins in the tropics of Asia and East Africa. It is one of the exotic house flowers that can be grown as a bonsai. Adenium is a succulent plant with a thick stem, fleshy leaves, and trumpet-shaped flowers, pink, red, or white.

The plant needs a lot of light and high temperatures. In winter, the dessert rose should be placed in a room where the temperature does not fall below 16 ° C. You should also know that it does not get wet until the soil is completely dry.

9. Guzmania

Guzmania, also known as bromeliad, is a plant native to Central America, South Africa, and the Caribbean. The plant needs a temperature between 18 ° C and 25 ° C, the temperature in a house being, therefore, ideal for the growth and development of this plant.

Guzmania should be placed in a place with plenty of light, but away from direct sunlight. Also, it should not have any heat source nearby (radiator, radiator), because it needs moisture. In spring and summer, the soil must be permanently moist, in autumn and winter the plant is watered only after the soil has completely dried.

10. Zygopetalum

Zygopetalum, a species of orchid native to South America, is one of the most fragrant exotic house flowers. It should be placed in the light, but not in direct sunlight, in rooms with temperatures between 15 ° C and 20 ° C.

Between two waterings the soil should not dry out completely, usually just one watering per week is enough.
