Those objects that can bring you joy

Poem of gratitude

Day to day

You wake up and prepare yourself

One more day

At home is more comfortable but...

You still need some motivation

What can you do?

What can you change?

Endless opportunities

But you know the right answer

Color is what you need

But with what?

You love greenery

Is there a better option?

You love the idea

You love...

The ambiance it creates

The smell it projects

Its vivid color lighting up the space

Perfect for your area

It brings everything up

Just a small teak

But it worked

You feel more energized

It worked

You are thankful for this little living being

Little but it created a huge change

With the current global situation, companies have decided to allow employees to change their workspaces and go home. With this, came great appreciation, responsibilities but also it lead us to re-value our spaces. You may be like me and only had a small area where you could do some work but it was never treated like a full-on workspace.

Of course, this had to change so that we could have a proper "home office" and it truly does have an impact on your motivation and on your productivity. Have you sensed it before? It's not the same working in an office complex with thousands of more employees cramped up together or...having a well-light open space that has comfortable furniture (yes the desk and chair of course matter too).

To provide some background, I usually tend to have my space very tidy and clean, recently I cannot concentrate on having a mess around. So you would find my desk with only the specific objects that I need at that moment.

Some people think that creative people always have to have a "messy" work area because it allows them to expand their minds and on their ideas but it depends on the person. Tidiness enables me to have a clear mind and therefore, to be able to think straight and create new thoughts and reflections. Everyone is different.

What I prefer to have at my desk at all times is a plant. I truly think that it gives me a little boost to work harder. It can give you an interesting point to look at, and if you are like me, it can add great fragrances to your space and you'll love it.

The plant that I currently have is lavender. Imagine the aroma! If you aren’t able to work in front of a window, I recommend having a least a plant next to you. This is truly a game-changer!

It’s said that by having some type of greenery, you can have the following benefits:

  • Increase of productivity
  • Relief of stress
  • Your space feels more attractive and inviting
  • Cleans up the air
  • And so much more!

I do have to share that I have the possibility to move around the house to a preferred workspace. I, like many other people, have transferred to a work-from-home policy and well spend all day inside. With this, I sometimes get tired of being in the same space or even in the same position. So that’s why you can see me sitting down, standing up, and moving from place to place.

With this in mind, I prefer to have plants in my main work areas, what about you? To end this poem/article, I would like you to question yourself the following:

Do you have any items you like to be around? Do they help you concentrate? What is something that you can't work without? Do you HAVE to have a proper desk or a very comfortable chair? Can you see that with some items, your productivity changes?
