Smartphone addiction

Smartphone addiction is the obsessive use of a smartphone. The behavioural addiction is often dubbed as “nomophobia,” or the fear of being without a mobile device. Smartphone addiction, sometimes colloquially known as “nomophobia” (fear of being without a mobile phone), is often fuelled by an internet overuse problem or internet addiction disorder. Some symptoms of phone addiction include constantly reaching for your phone, spending much of your time on your phone, waking in the night to check if your phone has any notifications, and feeling negative emotions such as anger, sadness, or anxiety when you don' t have your phone or can't access it.

If you are concerned about smartphone addiction, there are ways to scale down. You can try setting limits on your phone usage, turning off notifications for apps that you don't need to be notified about, and putting your phone away during meals and social events.

Safety awareness

1. Keep your phone locked with a strong password or biometric authentication.

 2. Be wary of text messages. Text messages are an easy target for mobile malware, so it's advisable for users not to send sensitive data such as passwords or credit card numbers via text message.

 3. Keep your phone updated with the latest software updates and security patches.

 4. Use a VPN when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks.

 5. Be careful when downloading apps. Only download apps from trusted sources such as Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

 6. Turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when not in use.

 7. Use two-factor authentication for your accounts.

Smartphone blast

There are several reasons why smartphones can explode. The most common cause of a mobile phone explosion is using it during it's being charged. Such events are also termed as 'call bombing.' Charging exerts extra pressure on the phone's motherboard; using it this time increases this pressure significantly. This causes the low-cost electrical components in some smartphones to explode. Other reasons include manufacturing defect, processor overloading, and using third-party chargers. Physical damage to the battery can also lead to short-circuit.

To prevent your smartphone from exploding, you can follow these tips:

 1. Use only the charger that came with your phone.

 2. Avoid using third-party chargers.

 3. Don't use your phone while it's charging.

 4. Don't leave your phone charging overnight.

 5. Keep your phone away from heat sources such as direct sunlight or hot car interiors.

Smartphone crimes

Smartphone crime is on the rise globally. In Peru, 6,000 devices are stolen each day, while in Argentina there are almost 5,000 thefts of mobile devices a day. According to research, adults between the ages of 25-35 accounted for 14.9% of all phone thefts from a person in 2018/19.

However, the proliferation of mobile phones may explain 19 to 29 percent of the decline in homicides between 1990 to 2000.than
