Falling asleep is a struggle that we have all battled. As one of the most frustrating circumstances, it often seems that you will never fall asleep with ease again. Instead of feeling helpless, be proactive in your changes, and follows some of the top life hacks to help you fall asleep faster.

Though they might seem too simple to be true, incorporating each of these steps into your nightly routine will improve your ability to fall asleep with ease. Ultimately, getting to sleep faster will also make you healthierand happier.

Go to bed the same time every night.

What might seem like one of the most simple life hacks to help you fall asleep faster, is actually challenging to most. With our constant access to the internet and television, it is all too easy to stay up past our desired bedtime.

As the first step toward falling asleep fast, physically getting into bed at the same time every day will make a world of a difference for your nighttime routine.

Your body will become used to falling asleep at the same time, and naturally become tired around that time of night, making your process much easier. It might take a bit of time to adjust to the strictness of this tip, but it will be well worth it.

Charge your phone away from your bed.

Another one of the most simple life hacks to help you fall asleep faster is to change the place that you charge your phone at night. We all know that we shouldn't be using our devices right before bed, as it makes it harder on our brains to transition into sleep mode, especially due to the harsh light of our electronics.

As an easy way to ensure you're not using your phone right before sleep, position your phone charger on the opposite side of the room, out of reach from your bed. This way, you can set your alarm, put it away at least 30 minutes before getting into bed, and find sleep much easier.

This will also help the temptation to check your phone in the middle of the night, which is terrible for your sleeping pattern as well.

Breathe in for four seconds and out for four.

Being aware of your breathing patterns is a great way to promote calmness and meditation before bed. Without having to actually meditate or do a round of yoga, practicing breathing patterns is a great way to promote quick and easy sleep.

This pattern in particular is very simple, and eliminates any unnecessary concentration. Simply breathe in through your nose for four seconds, count each of them, and then breathe out through your mouth for four more. Repeat this process until you drift off.

Tighten each of your muscles at once and then release.

Say the breathing technique is taking too long, and you want an instant relief, this is one of the top life hacks to help you fall asleep faster. What might sound a bit silly is really proactive in tricking your mind and body into thinking that you are exhausted.

To do so, tighten each of the muscles in your body, from your hands to your toes, your entire body should be tense. Hold this for a few seconds, and then release each of your muscles. Feel your body sinking into your mattress. And don't move.

Drink some wine.

Wine, whether we want it to or not, will always make us drowsy. Though we are not suggesting to do this every night, and rather within moderation, drinking a glass or two of wine can certainly aid in loosening you up, and getting you ready for a night's rest. Trust us, its much better than drinking warm milk, yuck.

Take a hot bath or shower.

Taking a hot bath or shower is one of the best life hacks to help you fall asleep faster that can be used for multiple purposes. Number one is the obvious. Taking a hot bath will relax all of your muscles, and change your mindset, which is perfect for going to bed.

Wash off your day with a long shower, or take a relaxing bath with candles and essential oils. Also, be sure to stretch after getting out of the bath. You can even roll your muscles out with a foam roller. It'll do wonders.

Another reason why taking a shower before bed is great is that it will cut down your morning routine. Doing anything proactive before bed that will make your day ahead easier is great for sleep.

Whether you know it or not, your mind will be more at ease knowing you have one less thing to do in the morning. As one of the best ways to get the most out of your sleep, this simple trick will make a huge difference in your nighttime routine.

Avoid the clock.

Clocks are everywhere in our homes, especially our bedroom. Though they are convenient, when it comes to struggling to sleep, we often glance at the clock more than we should. This is only putting more pressure on our struggle, and will not be proactive.

Eliminating your access to the clock is crucial for falling asleep quick and early. This also goes for staying asleep. If we look at the time every time we wake up, this disrupts our sleep, as well as tricks our minds into falling back asleep if it is too close to your alarm. You've already got rid of your phone's clock, the last step is to block the other time outlets from your vision.

Try earplugs.

When we're struggling to sleep, our senses are more sensitive than ever. This especially goes for our hearing, and as one of the top life hacks to help you fall asleep faster, wearing earplugs will eliminate our most troublesome sense with ease.

If you've never tried sleeping with earplugs, you're going to want to give it a shot. It has been used as a technique for falling asleep forever, and has even worked for people with insomnia.

Keep your room cool.

Being able to bundle up in our bed, escaping from the cold of our room, is a perfect way to fall asleep easily. Your bed should be your escape, and seen as a positive and comfortable place, solely meant for sleep. Keeping your room cool will promote better sleep, and more comfort.

This also goes for sleeping through the night, because after we fall asleep, it is very possible that our bodies will overheat, resulting in being woken up before we should. If you have already kept your room at a cool yet comfortable temperature, you will avoid this.

Change your sheets.

Last, but certainly not least, on our list of the best life hacks to help you fall asleep faster, is to change your sheets. Nothing beats crawling into bed after a long day with a new pair of sheets. Also be sure to make your bed each morning, and keep your room clean, as it is often hard to fall asleep in a room that promotes chaos. Plus, sleeping in a freshly made bed and a clean room is much more appealing.

Also, change your sheets depending on the weather. If it's the winter, try a new set of flannel sheets and a fuzzy blanket. And during the summer, you could even try out a pair of silk sheets. Your nights will be much more enjoyable, and more importantly, full of a full night's sleep.
