As the years pass, everyone wants to change something about their house. It could be rearranging the furniture and the layout of the house or a complete renovation of a part of the house, say a kitchen. While renovating a kitchen may seem complicated due to work needed, including wiring, plumbing, flooring, etc. However, with some planning, the process becomes easier than ever for Aucklanders. So, here is a 7-step process for renovating your kitchen without any worry.

Step 1: Clear the space and hire workers

The first step in renovating your kitchen is to clear up space. In case of a complete redoing, you may need to demolish certain areas. Try to do this as much as you can by yourself. Make sure you trim the things you intend to use in your remodelled kitchen. Once this is done, it is time to hire workers. While you can try hiring workers yourself, a more convenient option would be to get a general contractor, who can cost you a bit more.

Step 2: Replace the wiring and plumbing

The workers are here, and the work has started. The first thing to replace during a remodel is the electrical wiring and plumbing lines. If either or both are outdated, be sure to choose fixtures that are compliant with the local codes. This is the perfect opportunity to add new lights or plumbing fixtures to your kitchen that can make cooking easier for you. For instance, if your stove was electric, you can try running a gas line in your remodelled kitchen.

Step 3: Hang drywall and seal it

Hanging drywall is the next step after the plumber and electrician are done with their work. Drywall installation is something you can do by yourself if you wish to save money. All you need are the right tools and the knowledge of the basic process. Once the wall is screwed in, seal it with the compound. You may want to call in an expert for this.

Step 4: Paint the ceiling and walls

The wall is set, and now is the time to call in the house painter in Auckland to add a burst of colour to the walls and ceiling. You can always do it yourself, as well, if you are on a budget. But, remember, you need to be able to finish the job quickly enough before the cabinet installation and flooring workers arrive.

Step 5: Hang cabinet and install flooring

Most shops offer installers when you buy cabinets from them. So getting these installed is easy enough. However, make sure you do it after the flooring guys are done. Doing so will save you the cleaning cost later. Remember, both these tasks are not for beginning DIY-ers. Therefore, calling in professionals is the smart thing to do.

Step 6: Get the countertop and install backsplash

Ordering your countertop is the next step but also the most time-consuming one. It could take a week or even a few before your customized countertop arrives home. But once it does, get a sample and head to the tile store to find your backsplash and install the same.

Step 7: Get the appliances installed

Lastly, call in the electrician and plumber, once again, to install all the appliances. The first thing to be installed would be the range hood, which requires a roof jack to vent the exhaust. When bringing in appliances like the refrigerator or dishwasher, cover the floors to avoid scuff marks on the new tiles. Once all is set, check for leaks and make sure everything is working.

Conclusion

Kitchen remodelling is a lot of work, but it’s worth it when you have a space that’s customized according to your need. You can ensure you have the best work done by getting the right contractors and following the proper steps. Finally, choose the right colour and theme for your kitchen, and you’re all set.
