Reasons why holidays are good for your health.

Holiday and your mental health

As the holiday season is drawing near, many of us will be spending time with family and friends. Some of us may also get to travel to new places for holidays. Whether long or short, vacations are always an exciting time during which we can get away from our daily routines and do something different.

Although it may seem rather frivolous, the benefits of holidaying are substantial, both to our mental and physical health.

The last day of work before a long weekend is often referred to as the ‘hump’ day at work; it is perceived as extra hard because people only have 2 more days until they get 3 days off. Yet, many studies find that this last day of work is actually the day people are most productive because they have 3 pre-paid days off to look forward to. This has come to be known as the ‘Friday Feeling’.

5 reasons why holidays are good for your health.

1. There is usually more time for social activity.

No matter the time of year, holidays are a great opportunity to get out and enjoy some socializing. This can be especially true if you’re feeling down or lonely because it will allow your mind a break from routine for a while!

People often take their jobs home with them when they become stressed at work — understanding why family gatherings make such good therapeutic weekends away from phones screens, etc… I recommend planning special activities during these times even if someone has been taking care of children perfectly well lately-it’s important to make room in our lives where “us” means more than just two people sitting around on the couch doing nothing but watching TV together.

2. It reduces stress levels.

When you’re feeling down during the holidays, try to remember how much happier people were in years past. Studies have shown that this is due largely to their ability to avoid stress and depression which has been spread by today’s hectic lifestyles- not just because they had more time off work but also at home with family members who celebrated together instead of working long hours on your own throughout December 24th for example!

The best way I’ve found it useful myself when going through tough times or worrying about what may come next year end up being gratefulness — look around yourself right now: everything looks beautiful outside the brown and yellow leaves, nice breeze wind and thanksgiving decorations are almost here.

3. It’s a good time to spend quality time with family and friends

The best thing about holidays is the time you get to spend with family and friends. It doesn’t have to be just any old meeting, but something more special — like going on vacation or celebrating an anniversary! These are moments that remind us of why life has meaning in it so we can enjoy our day-to-day routines better too because they’re not always perfect either way as long as there’s someone around who cares for each other unconditionally

The benefits from being away during these periods include relaxation through disconnection which helps clear your mind after feeling overwhelmed at work or school all year round before relaxing into oneself again once returning home; escaping reality temporarily where things feel like they’ll never change back again no matter how stressed out you are.

4. It may help you sleep better at night.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the way your life is going, it may be worth considering that there are some things we can do for ourselves and our health. While many people take their vacations during this time of year to simply relax from all they’ve been through in recent months or years (understanding fully why these six weeks out of every twelve should feel like a vacation), others might find themselves with more than enough free-time on hand — allowing them an opportunity at self-improvement! Holidays such as Thanksgiving allow us plenty of opportunities: giving thanks while meeting family members; exchanging gifts within one household instead of individual presents outside thereof…the list goes.

5. The holiday spirit is contagious — people become friendlier and happier which can make us feel better about ourselves too!

The holiday spirit is a wonderful thing to have in your life, and it’s even better when you can share the feeling with others. When someone smiles at us or says hello on the street our happiness increases as well!

People who are kinder tend to experience less guilt from random acts of kindness so they become happier people overall — this makes everyone around them feel more loving too which creates its own sort-of chain reaction that makes all types of communities thrive together rather than one-sided where only some members get involved (including YOU!).

Bottom Line

There are so many things to be grateful for this time of year, and we hope you take the opportunity to enjoy them. If you need a little help getting in the holiday spirit or feel like your self-care routine is slipping away from you, here are some ideas that will make it easier on both your wallet and your body.

what really matters most is how well each individual takes care of themselves throughout the entire year. If there’s anything we can do to help out with any aspect of wellness during these busy times please don’t hesitate to reach out! Here’s wishing everyone a happy Early Thanksgiving weekend full of friends and family — and lots.
