Have too much free time? Take up a hobby where you can do something productive with your time.

When you have a lot of free time, it can be easy to drop into unproductive behavior. You don't have to be productive all the time. But, when you are doing working towards your goals, make sure that you have something to fill up your time. Get some hobbies that will fill up your time and bring you some joy. It also combats depression, and loneliness. So here are some hobbies that can help you fill your time.

Join a sport

Taking up a sport is a great way to fill up your time. Being active is a great way to help you feel better, if you are feeling depressed or lonely at all. If you join a league, then you can meet some new people as well.

Take a cooking class

Learning how to cook is such a useful skill. If you need to learn to cook the basics or just want to cook better, a class can be a great use of your time. Most community centers have cooking classes. You can also take cooking classes online. Skill share is also a great website to teach you different skills at home. They have classes to learn how to make almost anything. You can learn from every day people on your own time, in the comfort of your own home. So if you mess up, you don't have to tell anyone, and you can just try again.

Start reading

You would be surprised how much reading can do for you. Reading books really helps to educate your mind. Try to read non-fiction if at all possible. They will do the most good for you. But if fiction is what you love, then start with that.

Learn a language

Learning a new language as an adult can be a hard thing to do. But it really helps your mind. There are a lot of apps that can help teach you a language, such as Duolingo. After you have learned some, start to watch shows or movies in that language. It can really help you quickly learn. It is the most helpful, especially if you don't know anyone that speaks that language to help you learn.

Start a challenge

Find some kind of challenge and try to accomplish it. 75 Hard is a great challenge to help you change your life. You do it for 75 days. There are a few rules. Including 2 45-minute workouts, drink a gallon of water, read 10 pages from a non-fiction book and follow a diet no cheating. There are a lot of challenges that you can try. Find one that you think will not only challenge you, but that you can accomplish as well.

Learn to do a skill that you normally pay for

Learning a skill is a great way to save you money. For example, if you get your nails done. Try to learn how to do it on your own. It might take some time, and some cost up front. But in the end, it can be a great way to use your time and save yourself some money as well.

Learn to play an instrument

Ever wanted to learn to play something? Don't wait anymore, and learn how to play. You can take classes or learn at home. If you learn at home, after you have confidence in yourself, then try to find other people to play with. Either a class or just with people that can help you improve.

Do something creative

Having a hobby that is creative opens up a different part of your mind.

Not everyone can paint or draw. There are a lot of ways that someone can be creative. Such as writing, or baking or just decorating desserts. Find some kind of, a way to be creative where you can feel good about yourself.

Start a side hustle

Finding a way to make extra money is a great way to use your time. Everyone should have more than one stream of income. Finding something you can do outside your normal income, is a great way to spread out your income and use your time wisely as well.

Find something that uses your mind. Exercising your mind, is an important part to stop aging. When you stop educating yourself, stop expanding your mind, you really do damage to yourself. So find hobbies that will allow yourself to grow.
