Study: Four working days a week improve the health of workers and make them happy

It turns out that following a four-day-a-week system does not lead to lower profits, but rather increases them. So most of the companies that tested it plan to continue working with it.

The researchers discovered that the four-day-a-week work system, which was tested by British companies employing about 2,900 employees, not only saves workers from fatigue and diseases, but is also beneficial to the work itself.

The researchers were surveying the opinion of workers in these companies regularly and periodically, in order to assess the impact of the extra day off on their lives.

The workers confirmed that they now rarely suffer from anxiety and that their mental and physical health has improved significantly. Statistically, 71 percent of them declared that they do not feel exhausted now, and 39 percent of them declared that they do not suffer from stress as before.

The researchers add that the number of sick leave days decreased by 65 percent, and the number of quitters decreased by 57 percent compared to the previous year. Also, 60 percent of workers declared that their communication with and caring for relatives had improved, and 62 percent declared that it had become easier for everyone to switch between work and social life.

According to the researchers, the important thing here is that the profits of these companies did not change during the trial period. Rather, it increased on average by 1.4 percent.

56 companies out of a total of 61 companies that participated in this pilot program announced that they intend to continue working with the four-day working week system, and 18 companies confirmed that they will always work with it.
