There isn't anybody in the world these days that doesn't know about the internet and how it works. From the smallest toddler to the oldest adult, you won't find a living soul who doesn't know how to surf and browse through cyberspace. Whether you are tech-savvy or technically clueless, you will still have heard of the internet, limited as your knowledge of it may be.

And since the internet has become so much a part of our lives, it only follows that we depend on it too. Though the number of ways to use the internet is increasing all the time, there are still some things you can do online that will still keep you in touch with family and friends while you are on the go. Here are some of the things you can do while you're online.

1. Play Games

It's proven that the internet is a great source of entertainment. From puzzle games to card games to video games, the gaming community has created countless online communities. Some of these games are designed simply for card players, others are designed for other genres of games. If you have an internet connection, these games are easy to pick up and play.

2. Work

It may sound strange, but the USENET system, which allows for bulk downloads and easy file sharing, is also a great way to work. USENET is also a great system for electronic mailing (eg MO) and instant messaging. There are also file sharing networks that operate entirely in the USENET system.

3. Talk

Like it or not, talk is one of the most important things you can do online. Whether you're talking to a friend, a family member or a complete stranger, the fact that you are able to speak to them is a huge advantage. Voice calls and text messages allow you to express yourself in a way that your loved ones may not be able to.

4. Check Your Email

It's impossible to do your entire day without looking at your email. I know that it's supposed to be private, but trust me; it's impossible to keep secrets in this system. At least find time to check your email once or twice a day. The best thing about email is that it's free.

5. Bookmark

Every website you go to will have a permanent record of where you were last and what you've looked up. bookmark that site so that you can return to it later.

6. Calculate

You know how to keep your accounting straight? You set a column or table summary for yourself and regardless of which cell reference you choose, you'll know what the total is. But then you have to do so much more. Like remembering to add interest rates and taxes, you have to jot down the numbers. Then you have tonote the reference and eventually rubicrate them into an accounting system. The fulfil calculator shows you how to calculate the income tax you owe.

7. Save Time

This one is related to #6 above. Have you ever been stuck and just wanted to write out a few numbers and then reference them later? What about making a PDF copy of a webpage or text document? It can't be done! Save time by using your keyboard instead of your mouse!

8. Quality Time Work

Do you want to spend 1 hour of your day (10 minutes per day, or a full day if you're very productive) working on your computer and only use it for an hour or two throughout the day? Or will you choose to spend just 10 minutes per day working and you'll have plenty of time left over to do everything else? Your answer will determine how much you can benefit from the technology.

9. Find Time Clocks

Does your work allow you to clock in and out every hour and have yourself synchronize your internal and external time? Having a watch or wristwatch that tells you what time you are is really an advantage and can save you hundreds of hours of wasted time and energy.

10. Get organized

Once you've spent a few hours getting acquainted with your program, it's time to get organized. Start a file cabinet, sort your emails, create a folder or archive your favorite files. As you do so, you'll begin to categorize your files and locate repeat files. And, as you get more familiar with this software, you'll realize that there are even more ways to organize your files and to stay organized.

As you can see, there are many different ways to use Microsoft Outlook to remain organized and productive. Once you've found your routine, you can modify your schedule and manage your inbox so that you can get your work done.
