Have you ever struggled to remember important things and beat your head wanting to remember that one thing which you had repeated 10 times in your mind and yet you still forgot. Well the reason is you probably don't know how to remember and make information stick in your brain and to be fair it's not our fault we are never taught this in our school or universities we just have to learn it ourselves so here are 3 simple ways to remember what matters to you.

What Should You Remember

Well before jumping into the three ways let's first discuss what you should actually consider remembering. There is a very simple way to figure this out.

Remember the info using these methods which you are going to have to immediately recall and if the information doesn't need to be recalled immediately then you can instead add it to your notes app or wherever you store information in to

This is quite a simple way to figure out what you actually need to remember and what you don't need to. BUT WAIT why not just remember everything that we need to instead of adding it into the notes app well the simple reason is our brain is not capable of doing so one really good incident from the novel and movie of Sherlock Holmes is when Dr. Watson asked Sherlock What did the Earth rotate around and the genius Sherlock the one who could solve any mystery didn't know the answer which is obviously the SUN and when asked about it he said

Brain is like an attic where a smart person would only store the useful thing and whereas a casual would put everything in his attic and fill it to the brim

This is the reason because of which I am recommending you to remember the important info and not the useless one.

Method One -: Visual Method

This is a really good and also the easiest way to remember any kind of info and that has a very good reason behind it because our brain is more associated to images and visuals rather than words for example when we say apple we remember the image of a red fruit rather than the 5 letter word apple. So some simple steps for applying this info are

  1. Decide what you want to remember for example such as Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
  2. Convert the information into a image so in this example I would convert Mitochondria into a factory so that I can relate to it
  3. Then I would connect the factory to a battery cell
  4. Then when I would want to recall this info I would instead of remembering Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell I would remember that image which I have created.

Method Two -: Peg System

The Peg System is a really good way to remember numbers and information which contains number this can be useful if you want to remember's someone mobile number or maybe even yours. This system basically converts number into words and sentence which then you can convert into visuals. For example if the number is 1897 I can associate a specific word or letter with each digit so in this case 1 can be I because it looks really simple. 8 can be infinite because well the infinity symbol is quite similar and 9 can the letter N and 7 can be the letter S. So now the number can be I am infinite now Sara in this I have added the word am and now I can visualize this sentence in my mind. This method can even be used for very long numbers just with longer sentences.

Method Three -: Mind Palace

This is the method which even Sherlock Holmes used it basically is a way in which you convert any one place which you know very well into a palace in your mind. For example it can be my house so to use this method

  1. Once you have a place in mind try and recall as many details as you can you would be surprised how much you actually know.
  2. Whenever you want to remember any info take that info and put it in your palace such as taking the first example the sentence Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell can be pasted on my wall and the number 1897 can be pasted on the TV and so on
  3. And then whenever you want to remember the info back then just recall the thing you have associated it with and you will be surprised how well it works.

Things which are not as important

Whenever you see or hear something which you don't need to recall immediately then you can add it in your notes app the app I use is notion and notein. These things can be something like a quote or some nice idea that you have had just jot these down into your notes system.
