Are you an online seller wanting to learn how to make more money on Mercari?

Are you a Mercari seller and looking to increase your sales on the website? OR, are you not selling on Mercari yet but you're actually thinking about it? In this article, I am going to share with you five ways to increase your sales on Mercari.

Why would I do this? Because I've been an online seller for almost 21 years and have currently been working with Mercari for almost a year now and I know that there are times when sales are steady and hopping and then there are other times where sellers go through sales slumps during different seasons and time periods. Those sale slowdowns can hurt a bottom line so as a seller myself, I know that we must do everything we can possible to keep sales at a steady pace when we know there are times they can go down.

#1-Add 10% markup to the listing price so you can promote a price drop to your likers later on.

Sites like Mercari and Poshmark have a thing where you can promote your listings to anyone that 'likes' the item. When you list your item, add at least a 10% markup to the listing price so you can promote a price drop to your 'likers' during your slow times.

How do you do it? Just go to the listing you are wanting to promote, underneath the listing, there will be a button that says 'promote listing.' Click the button and then it will ask what percentage do you want to drop the price. My suggestion is to drop it at least by 10%(what you've already marked it up beforehand). Once you do this, then it will ask if you want to share the price-dropping to the entire public OR to just your likers. At this point, it would be up to you to decide but I usually promote my listings to my likers since they are the ones that noticed the item and liked it in the first place.

#2-Offer free shipping.

This tip is clearly not for everyone, but it's worth looking into especially when it comes to your pricing plans. You already know that the word 'free' is pretty powerful when it comes to shopping. Okay...it's powerful no matter what. Free is free is free. And when people notice that your listing says 'free shipping', that attracts many buyers. They know that the burden is off their back and they can focus on just paying for the item itself including tax. There are many buyers out there across the world that like to use filters in their search results so that they can view all of the items that offer 'free shipping'. This is where your listings come in. The buyers will actually be able to view your items within this filter.

So, you're probably thinking, 'Okay, it attracts the buyer but I don't want the shipping cost to come out of my profit.' And that's totally fair. So this is what I would do if I were you. Add the shipping cost to the price of your item. It may knock the price up a little bit BUT it's all about that free shipping they will notice and many times they will not notice that the price is higher because of that. It's that mental satisfaction that buyers love that they are getting a good bargain.

#3-Hashtag your listing.

What's cool is that they even have a place in the listing where you can put three hashtags that are relevant to your item. For instance, if you are selling a Bandai Blue Power Ranger Action Figure. You can put #bandai to represent the brand of the toy, #powerranger to represent the name of toy and #actionfigure to represent that it's an action figure. Do you see how these hashtags will help buyers find your listing?

#4-List, List and List some more.

If you have the inventory, then make sure you make it a habit to fit it into your schedule to list at least something every single day. Why would this help? Well, based on my own experience, the more you list, the more views you will have and the more likely you will make a sale(s). It's really not rocket science. When you list a new item and you do it consistently, someway, somehow it improves search placement for the other more older listings that you have if that makes sense. Also, when you list a new item, it goes to the top of the search listings when people are looking for newly listed items. More items=more views=more sales.

#5-Make sure you have more than one photo listed.

Everybody likes to see what they are buying and at every angle possible. Using a good camera with plenty of light, make sure you have a photo of each side and angle of the item so that there are not any buyers that will pass by just because there's not enough information pictorially to create value from your listing.
