Taking other’s feedback is an excellent way to know about different opinions. For instance, when you go shopping with your family or friends, the best solution to get away from the dilemma of buying either of the two items is to ask other members accompanying you.

Similarly, creating polls to get others’ responses is an effective method of settling a conflict or knowing more about what others think. Fortunately, Microsoft Teams can now create polls, and the feature was introduced recently.

Using the feature to create polls depends upon either of the two Microsoft versions you’re using: Free or Paid. If you have the paid tier, the platform allows you to use Forms that enable you to create and publish polls during chats, meetings, etc. However, if you’re using a free tier, the Forms option remains unavailable. Notably, there are various third-party apps that you can use for a similar experience and use additional customization tools.

Do you want to create and publish polls with Microsoft Teams, no matter which version you’re using? Below is a guide mentioning all the instructions you need to follow to do the same. So, let’s get started!

Creating a Poll on Microsoft Teams Using Forms

The steps to create a poll on Microsoft Teams using Forms are:

Open the ‘Microsoft Teams’ application on your system.

Locate the ‘Teams’ tab in the left toolbar and click on the same.

Tap on the ‘New Conversation’ button.

Click on the ‘ellipses’ icon from the menu at the bottom of the window.

A pop-up menu will open. Select the ‘Forms’ option.

Enter the question you want to ask for the poll in the given field.

Enter the options you want to give to choose from in the ‘Option’ fields.

To add more options for your question, tap on the ‘Add Option’ button.

Note: Adding more options is optional.

You can enable the multiple answers toggle if the question can have multiple choices.

Mark or unmark the checkbox for the ‘Share results automatically after voting’ option.

Mark or unmark the checkbox for the ‘Keep responses anonymous’ option.

Once done, click on the ‘Save’ button.

Review the poll you’ve created and hit the ‘Send’ button if you’re satisfied.

In case you want to re-edit, click on the ‘Edit’ button, which takes you to the previous window.

As soon as you click on the ‘Send’ button, the poll will go live, and others will be able to submit their responses. Additionally, you’ll be able to view the poll results and number of participants.

Notably, you can use the Microsoft Forms app to check who participated in the poll and what answers they chose.

Creating a Poll on Microsoft Teams Using Polly

If you’re using the free tier of Microsoft Teams, the Forms option is unavailable to create polls, quizzes, etc. However, you may use third-party apps, one of which is ‘Polly.’ It is a service that enables you to create polls on Microsoft Teams and Slack.

Make sure that you check the privacy policy and limitations before getting started. The steps to create a poll with the free version of Polly are:

Open the ‘Microsoft Teams’ application on your system.

Locate the ‘Teams’ tab in the left toolbar and click on the same.

Tap on the ‘New Conversation’ button.

Click on the ‘ellipses’ icon from the menu at the bottom of the window.

A pop-up menu will open. Select the ‘Polly’ option.

Note: If the option is unavailable in the pop-up menu, click on the ‘More apps’ button and look for the same.

A ‘Polly’ window will appear. Click on the ‘Add’ button.

Enter your Microsoft account details and sign in.

Tap on the ‘Accept’ button in the next window to continue.

Tap ‘Create New’ in the following window.

Set a schedule for the poll to go live.

Select the type of question you want to ask for a poll. For instance, multiple choice, rating, etc.

Enter the question in the given field.

Mark or unmark the checkbox for ‘Allow multiple votes’ and ‘Audience can add choices’ options.

Hit the ‘Preview’ button to view the poll.

Click on the ‘Send’ button to submit. On the other hand, click on the ‘Edit’ button to go back and make the necessary changes.

This is it! It might seem a lengthy process; however, it takes a few minutes to create a poll. Now that you’re familiar with creating polls using both paid and free versions get other’s opinions and use it to your advantage.
