Can you survive?
Will you survive the end of the world?
Let us consider a hypothetical scenario where the world has come to an end, not due to a catastrophic event such as a meteorite impact or a zombie invasion, but rather because people had built interstellar ships and left Earth out of boredom. However, a significant number of individuals remained on the planet, but they overslept and missed the last ship's departure, leaving them stranded in a world without infrastructure, electricity, economy, or internet. The question arises as to how these individuals would behave and survive in such a desolate world. To answer this question, we can turn to video games, where a company beta tested a game that would be deleted after 11 weeks. The developers analyzed the gameplay to understand how people would act in real-life situations if the apocalypse were to happen in a few weeks. Interestingly, there was no chaos in the virtual world, and the players treated each other with respect. This research into the simulation of the end of the world can help scientists and sociologists better understand human actions during emergencies and global disasters.
Returning to the scenario of those who missed the last spaceship, the first thing they would do is run to the supermarket for food. However, they would soon realize that they need to leave the big city and start farming to have a sustainable food source. They would need to choose a country house with fertile land and train their strength and endurance before setting off on this journey. It would be much harder for them to survive if they were alone, so finding trustworthy companions would be crucial. Building a new society would be much easier when there are many people. The basis of any society is laws and rules, and they would need to write an extensive list of what is allowed and forbidden in the new world. Mutual assistance, caring for each other, kindness, and love would help the last remaining people on Earth to recreate a new civilization.
However, if a global catastrophe occurred, such as several large volcanoes erupting simultaneously and flooding the continents with giant tsunamis, surviving would require a lot of luck. Few people would be ready for such a disaster, and most of the survivors would be people living far from the epicenter of the catastrophe. To survive, they would need to travel a lot and look for food somewhere. Cataclysms would destroy all vegetation and flood almost the entire planet, making it difficult to find food. Scientists conducted some studies and found that several hundred people would be able to continue the human race for centuries to come, but only if they found a safe place where there would be no natural disasters. Settlement in one small village would not be enough, and people would have to look for other survivors worldwide and unite in large communities. Only then would humanity have a chance to fully restore the population.
In conclusion, the scenarios presented here are hypothetical, but they provide insight into how people might behave and survive in the face of global disasters. The research into the simulation of the end of the world can help us better understand human actions during emergencies and global disasters, and it is essential to prepare for such events to minimize their impact on humanity.
