Dreamers Needn’t Knock

There are secret places in the world; hidden but to the dreamers. I have a practical plan for my life; one with a modest sized house with plenty of yard, built on a solid foundation in a neighborhood that never really loses market value just outside of town. What I’m about to conjour though... has no rooting in reality. It has nothing to do with practicalities or markets, accessibilities or budgets. This is myself in my wildest dreams.

Hiking through the mountains, somewhere in South America I’d find it. The ruins of worship or sacrifice or festivals of my ancestors’ ancestors. That is where I’d build my home; preserving the lands yet building atop and through them. To cut through the mountain side to then promote nature to return atop it. A balanced landscape of earth and stone, steal and light would flourish.

Once inside, each space would welcome the other and be filled with life. The elements would be welcome to participate in with the meals and the work and the leisure. It would be a self sastaining and ecofriendly retreat free for anyone willing to make the journey to it.

The first wing and to the east would be dedicated to living and the development of community. A space to greet and welcome fellow adventurers, dreamers, and wanderers. The sharing of ideas and triumphs would happen here. Amongst the wood beams, iron frames, and stone floors, the spirit of the Together that has always exsisted there will be rediscovered once again celebrated with spirits, games, and feasts!

The second wing and to the west will be reserved for creations. The artists and the mechanics of the world would have a tinker wonderland. A housing of libraries, secret escapes and passages, leading through the mountain to different halls of inspiration and tools. Free from distractions, many masterpieces would be realized within these walls.

The third wing and to the south would be purposed for the body. A realm of focus and challenges fashioned to forge a body and mind to be capable of any task or battle. Arriving to this gymnasium would be in itself a challenge as the only way in and out would be to hike, climb, or swim. No passage or paved road would all access to this temple of toughness.

The forth wing and to the North would be made for enjoyment and entertainment! A recharging station of the senses and the soul. From a coinless vintage arcade of the favorites to movie theater, the young at heart could play and the stubborn of spirit could regain their sense of levity. This section would be guarded by an iron door, a vault entrance that would relieve the entry of any doubt this place is anything but safe, to be joyful and childish again.

The four wings of the house would surround the main dwelling, holding the bedrooms, the showers, and the rooms designed to be the most relaxing. Reflecting and recharging will be the heart of the home. Couches for conversating, indoor gardens, outdoor showers, and cold baths for deep breathing; all will be rejuvenated here.

There is a home out there I will live in and one I will continue to dream of. My dream will remain to inspire the collaborative community, generate wellness, facilitate creativity, challenge limits, and to promote acceptance. Building this will not be easy and although a monolithic site will never be repurposed for my vision... I do believe I will one day capture that spirit in my life, business, and home and the impact I will have, will be just as great.
