Adobe Reader Problems
How to fix a few issues in windows
Okay, have you ever gone onto a website and tried to read an adobe pdf file only to get the message that it can't open in your Browser? Well here are a few things you can do to troubleshoot. (Was done on Vista, 7, and 8 may or may not work on Mac or 10)
Restart/Reboot
Sometimes your computer is just being a bit weird and restarting can fix mot minor problems.
Open Directly in Adobe
If your short on time do this. You can go back and troubleshoot to fix it later.
Note: One possible reason it's not working is if you haven't clicked I agree to their terms. Just open Adobe Reader from your Desktop and click "I Agree". I've done that before.
If the PDF appears as a clickable link, you can often save the file to your desktop and open it directly. Downloading the file is a quick solution to get you going without further troubleshooting.
Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) the link to the PDF file.
Choose the appropriate save or download option. The options vary depending on your browser:
(Internet Explorer) Save Target As
(Firefox) Save Link As
(Safari) Download Linked File
Make sure Adobe Acrobat Document is selected for the file type, and save the file.
Note: If you don't see a Save As dialog box, your browser could have opened a separate downloads window and downloaded the file automatically.
Locate the saved PDF, and double-click the file to open it. If your browser opened a downloads window, double-click the PDF in the downloads list.
Check Settings
Check the settings because adobe reader may just be disabled in your browser.
(Windows) Internet Explorer 8&9 (should be similar for 10):
1. Open Internet Explorer, and choose Tools> Manage Add-ons.
2. Under Add-on Types, select Toolbars and Extensions.
3. In the Show menu, select All Add-ons.
4. In the list of add-ons, select Adobe PDF Reader
Note: If you do not see the Adobe PDF Reader add-on, try the other options on the menu. For example, on some systems, the add-on appears when you select Run Without Permission
5.Click the Enable or Disable button (it toggles depending on the status of the selected add-on): Enable sets the Adobe PDF Reader add-on to open PDFs in the browser. Disable turns off the add-on so it does not open PDFs in the browser.
Google Chrome:
-Open Chrome, and go to:
chrome://plugins
Locate the Adobe PDF plug-in, and do one of the following:
1.To have the Adobe PDF plug-in open PDFs in the browser, click Enable.
2.To use the Chrome PDF Viewer instead of the Adobe PDF viewer, click Disable for the Adobe PDF viewer. The Chrome PDF Viewer becomes enabled.
3.To have Chrome download PDFs instead of displaying them in the browser, shift-click Disable for the currently enabled viewer. This leaves both viewer plug-ins disabled so the PDFs won't display in the browser.
(Windows) FireFox:
1. Choose Tools > Add-ons.
2. In the Add-ons Manager window, click the Plugins tab, then select the Acrobat or Reader plugin.
3. Click the Enable or Disable button (it toggles depending on the status of the selected add-on): Enable sets plugin to open PDFs in the browser. Disable turns off the plugin so it does not open PDFs in the browser.
Update
If the settings are fine you might just need to update.
1. Open Reader or Acrobat.
2. Choose Help > Check for Updates.
Repair
Something may have been corrupted or damaged at one point in time, so you may need to repair it.
(Reader) Choose Help > Repair Adobe Reader Installation.
(Acrobat) Choose Help > Repair Acrobat Installation.

If all else fails you can always uninstall and re-install.

2. Click Control Panel
3. Click Programs and Features
4. Click Adobe Reader
