A bad smell can be removed with ingredients such as lemon or vinegar. The garbage can, a constant source of less pleasant odors, can be washed with a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda and a cup of hot vinegar, followed by rinsing.

To be able to enjoy our own home, it is not enough for it to be arranged according to the latest trends; In addition to this factor, our home must be permanently clean and have a pleasant smell. Our brain recognizes and associates different people, objects, or places with a certain scent, which is why, often, the specific atmosphere of our home is one of the aspects that determine us to attach to it and call it "home".

Even if you constantly ventilate your home, various causes cause or contribute to an unpleasant odor: animals, mold, food, cigarette smoke, furniture, or old finishes are just a few factors that can lead to odors. Thus, to keep a pleasant scent in the house, it is necessary to find out what are the causes of bad smells.

1. First of all, for your home to always have a fresh scent, it is very important how the cleaning process is carried out. It must be ventilated regularly and it is recommended to change the bed linen and towels as often as possible, as it is a good host for bacteria, which produce unpleasant odors.

In addition to the commercially available fragrances, to maintain an enticing scent, you can use various natural products, such as citrus peels, cinnamon sticks, cloves, lavender oil, mint, or freshly cut flowers.

2. Odors caused by mold are the most difficult to remove. If your home is old, you can refinish your walls, flooring, and change carpets.

Currently, special products are available on the market to remove mold, which no longer requires rubbing. By pulverizing the solution on the affected area, in just a few seconds the mold will disappear without effort.

3. Wooden furniture, due to its porous consistency, often takes on the smells around it. To get rid of them, it is recommended to keep the piece of furniture for a few days in an airy or electrically ventilated room that has low humidity.

You can also buy a wood detergent, which will help you eliminate the bacteria inside the wood, which causes all these bad smells.

4. Persistent food odor can be removed with ingredients such as lemon or vinegar. The refrigerator often tends to get unpleasant odors, which you can eliminate by leaving a sponge soaked in lemon juice or washing it with a mixture of warm water and vinegar for a few hours. At the same time, both vinegar and lemons can be used to get rid of the food odor of dishes.

5. Also, the trash can, a constant source of less pleasant odors, can be washed with a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda and a cup of hot vinegar, followed by rinsing.

6. The smell of tobacco and cigarette smoke can become a serious problem if there is constant smoking in your home. Ashtrays can get rid of the smell of cigarettes if you wash them with water and baking soda, a substance you can use to get rid of the smell of the dishwasher if you add it to the detergent container.

Another way to remove the smell of tobacco is to place towels soaked in cold water and squeezed in the corners of the room, over which you can sprinkle some dried mint or lavender leaves.

7. If you have a pet, its smell will permeate the entire home, items such as carpets or sofa being the most commonly affected objects. In this case, it is best to buy cleaning products that do not contain ammonia, or you create the solution in-house, consisting of mixing one part vinegar with two parts water. It is also recommended that the armchairs, sofa, and carpets be constantly steam cleaned.

Considering the time spent inside our home, the way it smells has a much stronger impact on us than the way it is decorated, so it is necessary to always keep a fresh scent in mind.
