Succulents are unpretentious to growing conditions in contrast to many other indoor plants. They do not need to provide a strict temperature regime, a certain level of humidity or constant light. Minimal care provides natural and original living beauty for decorating any interiors. And knowing a few simple life hacks, you can not only quickly grow your succulents, but also get new plants without extra effort.

1. The beauty of growing succulents

Succulents are very hardy and durable. They do not require special care and grow quickly. They come in different colors and textures, and they look great in single pots and combined compositions that can be presented as a real work of art. If you know a few secrets about the care and reproduction of succulents, you can quickly create a whole garden with original plants of different types and sizes.

Succulents are not only a wonderful decorative material for decorating any interior, but also a great gift for any occasion. With their help, you can please a loved one or even start your own business selling original compositions in a bottle or a specific theme.

2. Propagation of succulents in four steps

Due to the fact that the leaves of succulents are so waxy and thick, you can get a lot of new plants from them. The best part is that this is a very simple and affordable process, even for beginners in growing indoor flowers. Instructions of four steps:

#1. Remove a few lower leaves from the succulent stem. This should be done carefully, slightly swinging the sheet from side to side. Sometimes accidentally touched leaves themselves come off the trunk. Instead of throwing them away, you can grow a new plant.

#2. The removed leaves are placed in a pot filled with soil, pre-moistened. It is not necessary to deeply bury the end of the leaf, it is enough if there is half a centimeter or a centimeter in the ground. The front side of the sheet should look up.

#3. Now we should wait for the leaf will take root and new sprout. Depending on the type of succulent, this process usually takes from a few days to a week.

#4. When the leaf begins to lose its elasticity and wilt, it can be separated from the new sprout and re-planted in the ground to grow another plant. If it is left in the soil, several new sprouts can grow from it nearby.

3. What is the best soil for succulents?

In the choice of soil, succulents are not particularly whimsical. For them, you can buy a universal soil, or choose a land with sand content that is ideal for cacti. It is best to buy soil in specialized packages with a balanced composition and the absence of any pests.

If you really want naturalness, you can try to mix the land from the garden or from the forest, containing the bark of trees with useful additives and fertilizers. In this case, it is important to conduct a heat treatment of the earth in the oven to kill the germs.

You can also dip the leaves to grow new plants in agroperlite. This is a special type of additive, which is essentially volcanic glass, which improves the properties of the soil. Agroperlite is completely inert in its chemical composition, there are no harmful components in it, so new plants will develop safely and quickly.

4. Additional life hacks for growing succulents

It is not necessary to grow new plants only from the leaves of succulents. You can cut off the side shoot with scissors, which spoils the picture of the developing flower, or simply interferes. The cut off shoot is planted in the soil or agroperlit with a small depth and watered with water. For the first time, it is better to provide support for the sprout until it takes root and firmly holds its position in the soil. To do this, you can use a stick or a small piece of foam.

5. Tips for watering succulents

When it comes to watering succulents, it is recommended to carefully spray the leaves as needed. If the leaves seem to start to deflate inward, it means that the plant does not have enough moisture and needs to be watered more often. It is also very important not to overdo it with water, because then a white coating may form on the soil surface, mold microbes will begin to develop, and the flower will simply rot, starting from the roots. Succulents don't need much water at all. In later stages of growth, water the soil surface only when it becomes dry.

At the same time, some succulents, even if they are not blooming at a particular moment, look slightly like classic flowers. If you plant them correctly in a small pot, so that the soil is not visible, you can create a kind of bouquet that will have a huge advantage over the real one – it will not wither in a week or a month.

Are succulents unpretentious plants?

At the moment, it is generally accepted that succulents are unpretentious in care. They do not need to be sprayed daily, watered, monitored. Nevertheless, all succulents must be provided with conditions for stable development and flowering. If everything is arranged correctly, the flower will not require daily attention from the florist. But. If the conditions do not meet the minimum requirements, your succulent will grow ugly, and you can forget about flowering forever. Now you know how to take care of succulents
